Facility Systems Technician
Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Facilities Specialist to join our Core Staff team at the Nora Eccles Harrison Cardiovascular Research and Training Institute (CVRTI). The Facilities Specialist will manage the overall maintenance of our building, equipment, and grounds. This role ensures compliance with all relevant procedures, policies, and regulations, and promptly addresses any regulatory issues and inspection findings. The Facilities Specialist will oversee special projects, such as renovations, to ensure they meet specifications and stay within the budget and will be responsible for facility security and building access.
Responsibilities
- Manage the maintenance of the building, equipment, and grounds.
- Maintain compliance with all procedures, policies, and regulations.
- Daily surveying of interior/ exterior of building and ensuring timely response to fix issues.
- Requests pertaining to temperature complaints, alarm malfunctions, equipment failures, floods, leaks, and other plumbing issues, external issues including waterlines and illumination, and general electrical failure.
- Coordinate with project managers and contractors on building renovations.
- Process and track work orders as needed.
- Fulfill building access requests and ensure facilities security.
- Perform repairs and preventative maintenance on building facilities and equipment. This includes, but is not limited to, replacing light fixtures, interior painting touch-ups, replacing filters, basic carpentry tasks.
- Monitor and report temperature fluctuations in Freezer Farm, home to thirty -80C and liquid nitrogen freezers.
- Coordinate with University custodial staff and supervisors to ensure building cleanliness and timely resolution of custodial issues.
- Regularly facilitate disposal of surplus building and lab equipment with University Surplus and Salvage.
- Assist with annual inventory of capital equipment.
Minimum Qualifications
High School graduate or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience) and four years experience in electronic and/or pneumatic control systems.
