Youth Ministry Coordinator - a leader and guide to our church's 6th-12th grade aged students. Under our Lead Pastor’s supervision, our Youth Coordinator will oversee, grow, and coordinate the youth ministry's studies, service, and gatherings. The Youth Coordinator will strive to make all students understand the journey of our souls, encourage students who are interested in the knowledge of God, and support them to develop their love for Him and for others.
Qualifications:
- Leadership skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Experience in teaching or mentoring
- Ability to plan and coordinate events
- Familiarity with Christian counseling principles
- Fundraising experience
- Experience working with children
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
-Leading M.S. and H.S. students in study on Sundays
-Supervising Fellowship time on Sundays and one Saturday per month
-Lead mid-week Bible studies, off campus and on campus
-Design, implement, and oversee curriculum
-Coordinating special events to reach out to the community and grow the ministry
-Supervising students at community service events
-Coordinating special events to foster the students' relationships with one another and build community amongst their age group
-Encouraging and facilitating children's involvement in our church community and events
-Promoting program and program events in the community and through social media
-Foster relationships with and amongst the students and their families
To be successful in this position, you need to provide students with a place to belong that gives them the courage to be different and resilient to unhealthy peer pressure. You will need to mentor students to grow in their relationship with Christ and each other and facilitate their families into biblical counseling with our Lead Pastor, when necessary. You will need to work closely with our Lead Pastor in building your program and curriculum to ensure the program's biblical integrity and efficacy. Ideal candidates are compassionate, have experience teaching the Bible as well as leading children, and have a proficient understanding of the challenges adolescents are facing in today's world.
Schedule:
Wednesdays (8hrs)
11:30am-8:30pm (1 hr. lunch break)
11:30am-12:15pm - Staff meeting
12:15-1:45pm - Mt. Gleason Middle School Bible Club with Pastor
2-3pm - Check in with Pastor
3-4pm - Lunch Break
4-6pm - Admin, Marketing and Planning for programs and events
6-8pm - Youth Bible and Game Night
8-8:30pm - Clean-up
Sun: (3hrs)
10am-10:30am: Sunday pre-service fellowship
10:30am-Noon: Breakout Youth Study during service
12-1pm: Supervise Youth Fellowship Hour
1 Saturday per month: (3hrs)
10am-1pm: supervising youth providing community service at Making It Happen Inc.'s Food Distribution
1 Saturday per month: (3hrs)
Hours vary: Facilitating youth fellowship event
Mandatory Participation for special events include:
Palm Saturday “Breakfast with the Bunny” Event
“Harvest Festival” Halloween night event
Community Christmas Celebration (occurs mid-December)
Chaperoning Youth Summer Camp trip to Thousand Pines Camp - 4 night stay Mon-Fri
Special events are paid hourly.
Job hours: 10-13 per week + special events
Wage: $20/hour
Background check and fingerprinting is required for this position, per state law.
