AO HR Solutions is seeking a Controls Engineer for an exciting opportunity in Orlando, FL. This role is on behalf of a leading engineering firm renowned for its innovative solutions in industrial automation. Role Overview:
The Controls Engineer will be responsible for overseeing project requirements that involve control system design, DCS/PLC programming, control panel design, and instrumentation, as well as providing check-out support and start-up assistance. This position offers the chance to work on automation and control system integration projects for clients in the entertainment and manufacturing sectors, among others.
Responsibilities:
- Design and develop DCS/PLC control systems to meet process requirements, ensuring compliance with local and government design codes.
- Document control system configuration and design, including operation theory, detailed system descriptions, and test plans.
- Optimize panel location in facility designs to minimize voltage drop and maximize maintenance efficiency.
- Perform system design calculations/analysis for short circuit protection, harmonics, noise reduction, power consumption, and safety system implementation.
- Develop schematics for control system configuration, wiring, network layout, and equipment panel layouts using AutoCAD.
- Serve as a technical lead on projects, guiding junior engineers, technicians, and contractors.
- Manage smaller projects ($50k to $250k), including planning, assigning work, developing schedules, and managing purchasing and subcontractor requirements.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or a directly related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience with Ethernet-based control systems, safety systems, instrumentation, logic programming, and DCS programming.
- Proficiency in PLC system design (e.g., Allen Bradley, Modicon, Siemens) and experience with AutoCAD preferred.
- Strong competency in planning, problem-solving, and decision-making.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Windows and Office environments.
Travel: Up to 35% travel may be required.
