Job Description:
As the Senior Quality Engineer at Cascade Engineering Technologies, you will be responsible for overseeing of quality assurance and quality control within our aerospace manufacturing operations. Your primary focus will be ensuring compliance with industry regulations, customer requirements, and internal quality standards to guarantee the delivery of safe, reliable, and high-quality aerospace products.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support day to day production operations with some weekends and evenings required.
- Develop and implement quality management systems (QMS) to ensure compliance with industry standards (e.g., AS9100, ISO 9001) and regulatory requirements or others as required.
- Lead and mentor other quality engineers, inspectors, and technicians to effectively execute quality control activities across all stages of the manufacturing process.
- Establish and maintain inspection procedures, quality standards, and testing protocols for incoming materials, in-process components, and finished products.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, production, and supply chain, to identify quality issues, root causes, and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA).
- Conduct regular audits and assessments of manufacturing processes, facilities, and suppliers to ensure adherence to quality standards and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Drive continuous improvement efforts to enhance product quality, reduce defects, and optimize manufacturing efficiency through data analysis, process optimization, and implementation of best practices.
- Manage non-conformance reports (NCRs), corrective action requests (CARs), and customer complaints, leading investigations and implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for customer audits, quality reviews, and regulatory inspections, ensuring full compliance and satisfactory outcomes.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to quality, such as first-pass yield, defect rates, and on-time delivery, and implement strategies to achieve and exceed targets.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, technological advancements, and regulatory changes affecting aerospace quality management, incorporating relevant updates into the QMS as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, quality management, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in quality management, preferably in the aerospace industry.
- Strong understanding of aerospace quality standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., AS9100, ISO 9001)
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to effectively manage and motivate a diverse team.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and experience with root cause analysis and corrective/preventive action methodologies (e.g., 8D, 5 Whys and fishbone diagrams).
- Experience in conducting audits, inspections, and supplier evaluations.
- Proficiency in quality management tools and techniques, such as statistical process control (SPC), failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA), and lean manufacturing principles.
- Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with internal stakeholders, customers, and regulatory authorities.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage deadlines, and drive results in a fast-paced environment.
