Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chief Engineer to lead the engineering and maintenance operations of a hotel property in NYC. This role is crucial to maintaining the highest standards of building, machinery, plant, furniture, fixtures, and equipment across all areas of the hotel. The Chief Engineer will ensure the safety and security of both property and people through the effective implementation of procedures and regulatory follow-up. This is a hands-on role that requires attention to detail, excellent communication, and leadership skills.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintenance and Operations
- Oversee the engineering and maintenance operations, ensuring all equipment and facilities are functioning optimally.
- Plan and supervise all repair and installation activities, including fire safety installations.
- Maintain comprehensive maintenance logs and report on daily activities.
Safety and Compliance
- Ensure compliance with all statutory local legislation and regulations, particularly in Health & Safety (H&S), building regulations, and Fire Safety.
- Prepare the hotel for regular fire, H&S, and building audits.
- Coordinate and ensure the implementation of safety and security procedures.
Inspection and Issue Resolution
- Conduct regular inspections of the facilities to identify and resolve issues promptly.
- Manage relationships with contractors and service providers to ensure high-quality service and compliance with hotel standards.
Budget Management
- Monitor, optimize, and anticipate budgets and expenses related to maintenance and personnel.
- Contribute to the optimization of the hotel's results, including making rooms available for sale.
Team Development
- Develop and train all employees under your supervision to ensure they perform to the required standards.
- Communicate effectively to ensure the team understands its goals and is motivated to achieve them.
Qualifications and Skills
- Proven experience as a Chief Engineer or similar role in a hotel or hospitality environment.
- Comprehensive knowledge of engineering and maintenance operations, including H&S, building regulations, and Fire Safety.
- Strong leadership and people management skills with the ability to inspire and motivate a team.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Hands-on attitude with great attention to detail.
- Ability to manage budgets and optimize expenses effectively.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $120,000.00 - $140,000.00 per year
