The Sanitation Lead directs the sanitation staff and ensures all Safety and Food Safety procedures are observed and followed by Sanitation Associates. The Sanitation Lead works with the Sanitation employees to ensure the equipment is cleaned and sanitized correctly. Ensures Associates are scheduled according to the needs of the job site.
Thus, ensuring USDA regulatory compliance and the production of a safe and wholesome product. Perform all jobs safely, efficiently, and effectively. This position supports the daily achievement of production goals through ensuring the proper functionality of our machines.
Essential Job Functions:
- Assist manager with department’s work schedules.
- Oversee timely and effective dismantling, cleaning, sanitizing, and setting up of equipment and other tasks
- Leads sanitation team which includes giving direction, training, and assisting with performance management
- Monitor cleaning chemical concentrations to ensure that they comply with specifications.
- Ensure adherence to all safety and sanitation rules and regulations and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) monitor inventory of cleaning chemicals and supplies.
- Ensure sanitation team adhere to all requirements to maintain a safe workplace including wearing the necessary protective equipment (PPE)
- Train employees to comply with SSOPs and to use chemicals correctly and safely.
- Maintain open communication and working relationships with all departments, including QA/QC, Production and Maintenance
- Makes recommendations to Manager regarding improvements to Sanitation Department’s efficiency and/or effectiveness.
- Communicate issues and important information to the appropriate person immediately.
- Adhere to company policies and core values.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills
- High School Diploma or GED
- Bilingual a plus
- 1-2 years of experience in plant quality/food safety/sanitation preferred.
- Knowledge of HACCP and Sanitation preferred.
- Must maintain regular and acceptable attendance at such level as is determined by the employer.
- Ability to intermittently lift up to 50 lbs.
- Must observe all safety and security procedures; Report potentially unsafe conditions; Use equipment and materials properly.
- Willing and able to comply with all safety laws and all of the employer's safety policies and rules; Must not pose a direct threat or significant risk of substantial harm to the safety or health of himself/herself or others.
