Job Title: Hotel Dining Server

Under the direction of the Hotel Restaurant Manager, the Hotel Dining Server is responsible for providing impeccable food and beverage service, as well as properly setting up tables, and rooms, in accordance with the
Event.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for creating the ultimate, memorable guest experience by providing exceptional service to every guest; interacts and entertains in an enthusiastic and engaging manner.
Provides timely service in a friendly and courteous manner to all guests; greets guests and takes their orders utilizing suggestive/up-selling techniques; Speaks to guests in a cordial manner with a smile, at all times.
Expedites food tickets and ensures high quality food items prepared by Chef are delivered to appropriate rooms and guests in a professional, friendly manner.
Responsible for a bank to receive payment from and give change to guests.
Maintains knowledge of all menu items and substitutions, daily and weekly specials, how the food and beverages are prepared and how they are garnished.
Must pass service standards, food, liquor, wine, beer and alcohol awareness and point of sales tests with scores of 90% or better, before working solo shift: then periodic quizzes and tests thereafter.
Verifies guest is of legal age to consume alcohol and ensures all responsible Alcohol Beverage Control (ABC), state policies are adhered to while serving alcohol.
Observes guest’s behavior in consumption of alcoholic beverages, count number of cocktails consumed, and offer assistance when necessary.
Enters all food and beverage items into the Squirrel (POS) system. Properly learns the fundamentals of the POS systems.
Keeps stations fully stocked with silverware, condiments, coffee, drinks, cups, etc.
Assists with special projects as directed by the supervisor including, monthly meetings, special events, and special guests.
Notifies immediate supervisor of any problems or concerns.
Maintains cleanliness, organization and preparedness of immediate workspace and adjacent areas.
Maintains personal appearance. Reports to work in a clean uniform;
Assist in all duties as required for room service operations and amenities.
Perform other duties as assigned to support the efficient operation of the department.
CERTIFICATES/LICENSES/REGISTRATIONS
Must obtain and maintain a current Food Handler’s Card within 90 days of employment and the California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) certification within 60 days of employment.

Primary work environment is in a climate-controlled restaurant environment.
Work hours and days may vary to meet business needs. Incumbents may be required to work evening, weekend and holiday shifts.
Must be able to work in a fast paced environment where responsiveness and customer service are highly valued.
Employee may be exposed to highly stressful situations where a great deal of tact and diplomacy is necessary.
Hearing sufficient to hear conversational levels in person and over the telephone.
Speech sufficient to make oneself heard and understood in person, in front of groups, in meetings, and over the telephone.
Visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned, or to make general observations of facilities, guests and employees. Use close, distance, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
Strength sufficient to frequently lift and/or move up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Work requires intermittent sitting, standing and/or stooping as well as bending, crouching or stooping.
Physical activities that apply to the essential functions of the position are: balancing, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, and grasping, talking, hearing, tasting, smelling, repetitive motions.
Endurance sufficient to sit, walk and stand for extended periods, and maintain efficiency throughout the entire work shift and during extended work hours.
The employee will experience moderate noise levels.
The employee will be exposed to fumes or airborne particles including secondhand smoke.
