Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Guidance Counselor to join our team. As a Guidance Counselor, you will play a crucial role in supporting the academic, social, and emotional development of our students. You will provide guidance and counseling services to help students navigate through various challenges and make informed decisions about their education and future.
Duties:
- Provide academic advising and support to students, helping them set educational goals and develop plans for achieving them.
- Conduct individual and group counseling sessions to address personal, social, and emotional issues that may impact students' well-being and academic performance.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other professionals to develop strategies for supporting students in the college application process.
- Assist in the identification and referral of students who may require additional support from child protective services or social work agencies.
- Help students explore career options, develop career plans, and make informed decisions about their future.
- Facilitate conflict resolution among students and promote positive relationships within the school community.
- Provide guidance on college admissions processes, including assisting with college applications, writing recommendation letters, and organizing college fairs or information sessions.
- Stay up-to-date with current trends in education, child development, counseling techniques, and relevant laws or regulations.
Skills:
- Strong background in academic advising, child protective services, social work, or special education.
- Experience working with students in an educational or counseling setting.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to establish rapport with students, parents, teachers, and administrators.
- Ability to effectively manage conflicts and mediate difficult situations.
- Knowledge of childcare principles and childhood development stages.
- Familiarity with cultural diversity counseling approaches.
