Position Overview: We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Emergency Coordinator to join our team. The Emergency Coordinator will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our emergency services department within our multi-specialty veterinary hospital.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and oversee all aspects of the emergency services department, including staffing, scheduling, and workflow management.
- Act as the primary point of contact for all emergency cases, ensuring timely and appropriate triage, assessment, and treatment.
- Collaborate with veterinary specialists, technicians, and support staff to provide comprehensive care to emergency patients.
- Maintain accurate records of patient cases, treatments, and outcomes.
- Implement and enforce hospital protocols and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and best practices.
- Train and mentor staff members to enhance their skills and knowledge in emergency medicine and critical care.
- Monitor inventory levels and ensure adequate supplies and equipment are available for emergency cases.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of new protocols and procedures.
- Provide compassionate support and communication to pet owners during emergency situations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in veterinary technology, animal science, or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working in a veterinary hospital setting, with a focus on emergency medicine and critical care. Ideal candidate would have prior management experience
- Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) or equivalent certification preferred.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills, with the ability to prioritize and delegate tasks effectively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a compassionate and empathetic approach to patient care.
- Proficiency in veterinary medical terminology and computerized medical records systems.
- Ability to remain calm and composed under pressure, with a commitment to delivering high-quality care in emergency situations.
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends. Proposed schedule is working Sunday through Wednesday 2PM - 12AM.
