The Electrical Controls/Design Engineer is responsible for designing electrical controls for both standard and custom packaging machines. This includes programming, integration, and communication for various PC’s, PLC’s, HMI’s, servos, VFD’s, and related components. As a member of the Packaging, Machinery and Automation (PM&A) Team located in Orlando, FL, you will collaborate on the development of equipment using state-of-the-art technologies and the best controls design practices.
Day-to-day duties include:
Designing standard machinery controls to address customer's packaging requirements.
Ensuring accuracy of electrical and pneumatic calculations for designing automation mechanisms and equipment.
Creating and maintaining structured electrical bills of materials for specific equipment and submitting them to purchasing and production departments.
Researching and selecting appropriately sized electrical components for purchase.
Developing electrical layout drawings, control cabinet drawings, and pneumatic layout drawings using AutoCAD 2D for production and customer reference.
Assisting in cost reduction and quality improvement efforts for electrical designs.
Understanding customer's electrical specifications and operational needs for packaging.
Collaborating with technical writers to create machine documentation.
Programming standard equipment upgrades and custom packaging machinery.
Participating in the start-up and commissioning of machinery in both plant and customer facilities.
