Title: Special Education Teacher/Case Manager for Pathways Secondary Program
Qualifications:
1. Bachelors or Masters Degree in Special Education
2. CDE Special Education Generalist License
3. Prefer three years of experience in a school setting.

Salary starting 58,000 placed on scale based on education and experience

Job Summary:
The School of Excellence is a separate school program run by the Pikes Peak BOCES. This program is designed to support student with intensive special education needs including cognitive, behavioral, and health needs. Special education teachers in this setting must be comfortable with providing intensive behavior support.
Provide instruction and support to students in accordance with each student’s Individual Education Plan.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Typical duties are listed but are not limited to the following:
1.1. Participates in the identification, evaluation, and placement or monitoring process for students with disabilities, following federal and state guidelines and BOCES recommended procedures
1.2. Demonstrates knowledge of specialized assessment and service delivery for students with individualized needs.
1.3. Demonstrates effective skills related to instructing paraprofessionals, other staff, and teachers in the effective strategies, interventions, accommodations, and modifications students require to make progress towards IEP goals.
1.4. Provides direct instruction to students that aligns with the Colorado Academic Standards
1.5. Progress monitoring of all IEP goals
2. Possess strong behavioral management skills for ensuring students are engaged in appropriate activities.
3. Has current knowledge of Colorado’s Eligibility criteria for Special Education and related services
4. Possesses knowledge of best practice interventions within specific disability categories
5. Strong oral and written communication skills
6. Maintains appropriate required records and meets prescribed deadlines according to legal requirements for special education programs
7. Demonstrates effective planning, communication and collaboration skills related to buildings, teams, students, families and community agencies.
8. Adhere to professional organization standards at national and state level.

Evaluation:
This position shall be evaluated in accordance with board policy on personnel evaluations.
Salary, Working Time, Vacation, Etc.:
This position shall be 154 or 179 days (unless otherwise stated on the contract) per year based on the calendar(s) of the school district(s) to which you are assigned, with earned leave in accordance with Board policy. Travel to each of school districts on a weekly basis is required.
The salary shall be determined by education and experience in accordance with the BOCES Licensed Salary Schedule or Alternative Certified Salary Schedule (this can be found on our website at: http://www.ppboces.org/DocumentCenter/Index/152). Contracts are on an annual basis and are subject to renewal or nonrenewal at the discretion of the Board.
Working Conditions:
● Talking and hearing, walking, standing or bending is frequently required
● Reaching with hands and arms, climbing or balancing, stooping or kneeling is also required
● The employee must occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 25 pounds
● All required license(s) must be maintained in an active status without suspension or revocation throughout employment.
● Any employee may be required to stay at or return to work during meetings and/or emergencies to perform duties specific to this classification or to perform other duties as requested in an assigned position. This may require working a non-traditional work schedule or working outside normal assigned duties during the meeting and/or emergency.
