Assists in the development of exterior spaces and physical environments. Prepares overview of final project design drawings and specifications. Develops schematic designs and construction details, helps in cost estimation of project, and works with project architects or outside consultants as needed. Requires a bachelor's degree in architecture. Typically reports to a Landscape Architect Manager. Typically requires 4 to 7 years of related experience. Contributes to moderately complex aspects of a project. Work is generally independent and collaborative in nature.
Ability to work primarily independent from Principal on the following:
· Design and oversee implementation of projects through all phases of work, starting with Concept Design through Construction
· Manage selection, delivery and quality check of materials based on client desire, budget and climate parameters
· Manage permit sets, outline specifications, schedules, and details
· Assist with and/or review submittals, RFI’s, and installation during construction
· Analyze environmental reports; provide recommendations on conservation and sustainability for each project
· Detail hard and softscape materials; Delegate to junior staff as needed
· Conduct on-site inspections to assure adherence to final plan
· Prepare for and conduct client meetings
· Cultivate vendor and subcontractor relationships
· Periodic updates to Principal in charge as needed
· Help to cultivate a culture of collaboration, growth, and innovation
· New project graphic standard templates
· Landscape Architecture specific symbols, schedules, and legends
· Establish hardscape, softscape, and irrigation typical detail library
· Create plants list and standard specifications including applicable climate zones, watering needs, soil needs, and exposure needs
· Develop proposal template for Landscape Architectural projects
Skills Required
· Bachelor or Master’s degree in Landscape Architecture
· Minimum of 8 years of professional experience working in a landscape architecture studio through all phases of design
· Project management skills
· Ability to manage junior staff members
· Technical knowledge and experience in production of Schematic Design, Design Development and Construction documents, including: site details, materials selection, grading, and planting
· Clear understanding of the design process
· Ability to work collaboratively within a team and take direction as well as work independently
· Clear and effective verbal and written communication
· Able to manage time and meet deadlines efficiently
· Positive, innovative, and capable approach to problem solving
· Be flexible, adaptable to new technologies and willingness to learn
· Collaboration with a variety of other disciplines including Architecture and Interior Design team members
· Hand sketching, graphic communication and excellent 3D modeling skills including SketchUp
· Superb AutoCAD skills
· Proficiency in Adobe suite (Photoshop and InDesign) and Microsoft Office programs.
· LandFX, 3D and Sketch Up skills a plus
· If not licensed, licensure should be a goal
· Availability to travel as necessary
· Bachelor’s in landscape architecture
