We are actively seeking teachers who are director qualified for our Oak Park early childhood daycare center. This is a lead teacher position working with our students, 5 years and younger. We are a small environment that focuses on education and quality care. We are looking for qualified staff who can meet both the teacher and director aspect of this unique position. This person exemplifies the following qualities/skills:
- Experience working with all age groups
- Time management
- Supervisory techniques
- Teaching
- Organization
- Problem solving and quick decision making
- Additionally, you must:
- Have a BA degree in early childhood or equivalent field, with at least two years experience in the field , ideally looking for a type 04 degree.
- Preferably have previous experience in a director role at a childcare center
- Meet DCFS standards for employment as a teacher and director
- Be committed to a long term position
- Bilingual is a plus
- Familiarity with Creative Curriculum is a plus
As the lead teacher your job responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Maintaining a safe learning environment at all times
Planning and preparing monthly lesson plan calendars that meet the social, emotional, physical, cultural, and cognitive needs of each child
Encouraging assistants to contribute to curriculum planning
Completing annual assessments of children’s development
Supervising assistants and volunteers in the classroom
Maintaining daily communication with parents both verbally and written
Establishing routines and providing positive guidance
Observing children while multi-tasking in the classroom
Creating a schedule and prioritizing time efficiently to stay on track
Clearly communicating with the students.
