Responsibilities & Qualifications:
RESPONSIBILITIES

Design and implement security systems and controls to protect information assets.

Conduct regular security assessments, vulnerability testing, and risk analysis.
-
Develop, implement, and maintain security policies, procedures, and protocols.
-
Monitor and respond to security incidents and breaches, including investigation and remediation.
-
Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and best practices (e.g., ISO 27001, NIST, GDPR).
-
Collaborate with IT and other departments to ensure secure deployment of systems and applications.
-
Stay up-to-date with the latest security technologies, threats, and trends.
-
Prepare and present reports on security status and incidents to management.
-
Coordinate A&A kickoff meeting for authorizations and reauthorizations.
-
Provide data categorization guidance to system owners.
-
Provide DoD Information Technology Portfolio Repository (DITPR) and eMASS registration guidance to system owners.
-
Provide security control selection and monitoring strategy guidance to system owners.
-
Perform security plan reviews for approval (RMF Step 2 approval).
-
POA&M Management (status, mitigations, and remediation strategies) oversite.
-
Performs risk assessment reviews and makes recommendations to the Authorizing Official.
-
Running ACAS scans, SCAP scans and manually going through STIG checklists.

Conducting required vulnerability analysis to support mitigation and residual risk determination.
-
Supporting the continuous monitoring program as necessary when Information System Continuous Monitoring (ISCM) results will be used to support continuing authorization requirements or ongoing authorizations.

Expert with RMF accreditation packages.

Experience in all steps of the RMF process.

Expert in evaluating security controls and compliance on a variety of hardware and software systems.

Ability to work effectively independently as well as within a team environment.

Experience with writing SSPs

Expert with eMASS.

Develop and maintain incident response, disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
-
Provide guidance and training to staff on security best practices and awareness.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
-
Top-Secret clearance required with SCI or SCI eligibility.
-
DoD 8140.01 compliant certification and computing environment certifications required.
-
Ten (10) or more years of experience.
-
BS/BA degree

The Information System Security Engineer (ISSE) will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining security measures to protect the Department of Navy (DoN) computer systems, networks, and data.
