St John Mental Health Clinic of Houston is a small, patient-centered and results driven outpatient psychiatric practice. We are looking for a nurse with a passion for working with depressed or anxious individuals, an interest in or curiosity about psychedelic medicine, a desire to learn and grow with the evolving field of interventional psychiatry, and a calm, patient demeanor. Identifying the right fit for the position is of utmost importance.
Core responsibilities of the Nurse will be performing IV ketamine infusions to patients according to a written protocol and under the supervision of our psychiatrist while ensuring that treatment is performed in a safe, comfortable, and serene environment. Nurse will also be responsible for managing all communication with patients between infusions.
Responsibilities:
- Administer low dose ketamine infusions for patients with treatment-resistant depression or anxiety according to MD-directed protocols
- Monitor and report changes in patient symptoms or behavior to supervising physician
- Maintain accurate patient medical records
- Facilitate patient alliance and provide emotional support to patients during infusions
- Maintain an inventory and order supplies needed for infusions
- Return phone calls to patients, authorize prescription refills, and complete prior authorization paperwork when needed to support office staff
- Administer IM injections of long-acting antipsychotic medications, when needed
- Qualifications:
- Previous experience in nursing, including IV infusions
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in nursing
- An active, unrestricted license to practice in the State of Texas
- BLS certification
- Thoughtful attention to detail
- Ability to build rapport with patients
- A caring and comforting demeanor and passion for changing the lives of patients with treatment-resistant disorders
- Ability to work independently
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $40.00 - $45.00 per hour
Expected hours: 22 – 30 per week
