The medical assistant performs clinical and administrative duties under the direction of the physician and within your scope of practice to assist in the examination and treatment of patients.

Medical Assistant Certification
-
Minimum 2-years recent cardiology experience preferred
-
Basic knowledge of cardiac rhythms
-
Working knowledge of 12-lead EKGs
-
Knowledge of Holter/Event monitors
-
Knowledge of Coagucheck monitor and protime adjustment

BLS Certification
-
Working knowledge with computers
- Follow all office policies and procedures.

Make decisions that reflect the best interests of Heart One Associates and providing quality patient care.

Maintain patient confidentiality as governed by the Health Information Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
-
Prepare patients for office visits both new and established by obtaining weight, height, and vital signs.

Assess patient’s signs and symptoms for follow up visit.
-
Verify patient’s current medications and document accurately in chart.
-
Perform EKG/ICGs at physician’s request.
-
Perform protime checks, make adjustments, and discuss results and changes with patients.
-
Perform lipid/ALT/AST and give results to physician.
-
Prepare patients for Holter/event monitor hook-up and removal when coverage is needed.
- Maintain thorough and accurate documentation in charts for all correspondence involving patient care.

Check messages regularly throughout the day. Messages should be accurate and thorough for physician to review and assess.

Call patients with test results, lab results, and answers to questions at physician’s request.

Triage any urgent calls and give to appropriate physicians.

Page physicians as needed with consults and incoming messages.
-
Assist in the back office with various duties to ensure the physicians’ clinics flow smoothly.

Travel to Sun City West as needed for coverage.

Inform team leader of needed supplies.
-
Keep workstation organized and clean.
Additional Responsibilities:

Perform quality controls on Cholestech machines on scheduled basis.
-
Cross cover as needed for lunch/sick/vacation coverage as requested by Practice Manager or Team Leader.

Assist with medication refills, messages, and patient call backs.
-
Check crash cart daily at SCW office.
