About the job:
Kent is looking for a Mechanical Engineer to be based in Houston, TX.
This position will support a program that has projects at multiple sites across the globe. The Engineer will report to the Mechanical and Piping Department Manager and will receive project work instructions from the Project Manager and / or Project Engineer leading the project.
The Engineer will interact with other disciplines and groups, corporate technical networks and peers, and vendors/suppliers as needed to successfully implement and startup new equipment installations and refurbishments. This individual will also be responsible for interfacing with client(s) and managing discipline scope and schedule.
Ideal candidate will have experience with Bentley AutoPlant.
Skills and Responsibilities:
- Prepare and review mechanical equipment engineer specifications.
- Prepare and review datasheet for mechanical equipment.

Prepare material requisitions for quote, technical bid evaluations, and materials requisitions for purchase.

Review equipment vendor drawings; data interface with suppliers, clients, other engineering disciplines and designers.
- Applies knowledge of commonly used piping concepts, practices, codes and procedures within the piping engineering services industry.

Review and approval of mechanical stress calculations.

Applies knowledge and experience to complex projects, find non-standard design solutions.
- Quality review production drawings for a variety of projects and project-related data as required by the project managers to verify corrections are made within the relevant software.
- Prepare and present technical reports for clients.
- Responsible for QA/QC process adherence.
- Contribute to the management of discipline scope & schedule.

Coordinate with our HVEC (High Value Engineering Center) overseas.

Provide technical guidance and direction to others in your area(s) of expertise.

Explore and suggest new approaches and concepts in addressing project requirements.

Independently perform most assignments, plan work, and meet deadlines without supervisor action.
In addition to the responsibilities listed herein, the employee may be required to perform other ad-hoc tasks as needed or directed by the supervisor or management. These tasks will be within the reasonable scope of the employee's skills, capabilities, and role within the organization. Your knowledge/skills, education, and experience:
Knowledge/ Qualification/ Training/ Certification:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering required.

Minimum 7 years’ experience in refinery, midstream or petrochemical industries.

Registered Professional Engineer in at least one state of the USA.

Experience in the application and specification of mechanical equipment including pressure vessels, heat exchangers, and columns.

Knowledge in Piping Engineering, materials, and practices.

Ability to lead execution of work and resolve issues in a team environment.

Ability to perform quality reviews for engineering documents and specifications.

Working experience with high value engineering center (HVEC) (recommended).
Communication:-
Excellent verbal, written, rapport building, and communication skills necessary to work effectively as a team member and to coordinate work progress to achieve results.

Must be able to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
