Job Description Summary
Provide technical leadership for our process engineering and design teams by providing direction and priority on best practice focus areas and project scopes to effectively leverage expertise across the plant. Also provides guidance to engineering regarding design concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Support a team of manufacturing engineers, engineering technicians, and engineering services that are involved in developing optimal processes for production including plant layout, machine selection, tooling, and standard work.
- Oversees the development and implementation of all manufacturing processes to improve product cost, efficiency, and functionality of the factory.
- Ensures alignment between the manufacturing engineering team and other manufacturing departments to promote a cohesive relationship.
- Responsible for the development and project management of new capital equipment to aid in improving manufacturing processes.
- Provide direction on projects to ensure that safety is a priority and an integral part of the design and implementation of all and any projects.
- Influence and drive cross-functional problem solving to ensure the attainment of continuous improvement objectives.
- Develops and evaluates engineering changes and specification requirements.
- Supports new product development (stage gate process) by ensuring proper and effective support of new product launches.
- Oversees the on-time creation of all manufacturing documentation (BOMs, routings, work instructions, SOPs) and ensures that production rates and machine cycle times are available/accurate/consistent for new products per the project plan.
- Works directly with operations and continuous improvement to optimize plant layout, material product flow, and plant efficiencies.
- Support all control debugging, upgrades, and automation efforts as needed in the factory.

EDUCATION:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, EMET, Industrial); MBA preferred.

EXPERIENCE AND REQUIRED SKILLS:
Minimum Qualifications:
- 5+ years’ experience with manufacturing processes, new product introduction, machinery, and documentation.
- Comprehensive experience applying Lean and Six Sigma methodologies to continuous improvement and new product introduction efforts is required.
- Comprehensive knowledge of general mechanical engineering, mechanical design principles, and practices.
- Strong knowledge of machine processes. Tooling and fixture design experience.
- CNC programming experience a plus
- Extensive project management experience in product development and manufacturing environments.
- Proven leadership and management of diverse work teams.
- Excellent computer skills using Microsoft Office or equivalent software.
- Experience with Microsoft Project software is a plus.
- Experience in CAD and 3D software is a plus.
- Required to travel domestically and internationally less than 10% of the time.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Works in an office environment
- Will have regular exposure to the plant floor.
- Ability to move throughout the plant and office areas.
- Alternates between sitting, standing, and moving within the work area.
- Must be able to manipulate equipment used in performance of tasks.
- Other demands include but are not limited to oral, written, and presentation/communications skills.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. (Bilingual is a plus)
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of an organization.
COMPUTER SKILLS
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of
