Job Summary
The primary responsibility of the Maintenance Technician will be to maintain SSBCC buildings and equipment to the highest possible standard of excellence.
Summary of Essential Job Functions

Perform maintenance work assignments based on conference, staff, emergency, preventative maintenance and special project needs.

Perform assignments including, but not limited to, basic carpentry, electrical, plumbing, drywall, painting, HVAC, appliance, and vehicle repairs.

Perform preventative maintenance assignments including, but not limited to, changing air / water filters, pest control, changing batteries, lock lubrication, and cleaning HVAC units / exhaust systems.

In conjunction with the Maintenance Director, assist in maintaining an organized and adequate inventory of maintenance related items needed to perform assigned duties, i.e., electrical items, plumbing items, oil, filters, nuts, bolts, etc.

Ensure that all SSBCC tools and maintenance equipment are in safe working order at all times.

Promote and ensure a safe working environment.

Practice and promote energy and utility conservation.

Accept miscellaneous assignments as agreed upon with the supervisor.
Requirements:

High school graduate or equivalent required- further study in maintenance-related area helpful.

Work experience in general maintenance or work related field.

Ability to communicate (auditory, verbal and written) adeptly with guests, program personnel and employees.

Ability to organize and manage multiple tasks and details and perform assigned duties in a pleasant and competent manner.
Physical
-
Physical ability to work at least 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week repairing or replacing water and sewer lines, pumps, air conditioning/heating units, truck and or tractor drive train components, vehicle body components, plumbing fixtures, water heaters, lighting equipment, and other maintenance related equipment found on the SSBCC campuses.

Physical ability or strength to lift, carry, and load onto a 4' high platform plumbing fixtures, water heaters, lighting equipment, and other maintenance related equipment found on the SSBCC campuses weighing up to 80 pounds.

Physical ability to climb ladders and work safely at various heights.

Possess a valid driver’s license and be able to safely operate company vehicles and equipment.

Ability to work outside in all weather conditions indigenous to Talladega County, Alabama.

Ability to abstain from use of tobacco products, alcoholic beverages, and controlled substances.
