We are looking for a full-time Tool and Die Maker.
You will analyze specifications, lay out metal stock, set up and operate machine tools, and fit and assemble parts to fabricate and repair metalworking dies, cutting tools, jigs and fixtures, gauges, and machinists' hand tools.
Responsibilities:
- Builds, maintains, and repairs various size carbide dies (progressive dies)
- Plans the sequence of operations to fabricate and assemble all types of dies from tool design or by reverse engineering (inspection records, sketches, and measurement data).
- Uses standard problem solving and troubleshooting skills to identify and resolve issues.
- Set-ups and operates a variety of machines such as milling machines, lathes, surface grinders for the fabrication of tools and dies.
- Verifies dimensions, alignments, and clearances of finished parts for conformance to specifications, using measuring instruments such as calipers, gauge blocks, micrometers, and dial indicators.
- Able to recognize cosmetic non-conformances based on Company specifications such as burrs, galling, cracked edges, slug marks, dimensional changes in production parts and initiate action to repair the die.
- Plan and perform close tolerance setups with little or no assistance
- Setup repetitive jobs requiring close tolerance
- Select feeds, speeds, cams, tooling, etc. for the most economical production rate of the machine
- Use scales, micrometers, dial indicators and fixed gages to check and gage work
- Adapt or modify tooling to meet gage work
- Lubricate, adjust, or repair equipment to ensure proper production
- Starts machine, observes operation, and inspects samples to ensure product conforms to specifications
- Review the work and assist other operators as necessary to ensure proper work instructions and quality procedures are being followed
- Work with engineering and/or maintenance to resolve specific machine, tooling, setup problems that may arise
- Read drawings, interpret dimensional tolerances and finish call outs as well as work from verbal directions.
We are looking for:
- Machine Operator experience is a MUST
- PREFERRED SKILLS: Manual Tool Room lathe, Surface Grinder, Speed Lathe
- Candidate should have knowledge of various metals including but not limited to H-13, A-2, D-2 and Carbide
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Ability to move and handle products totaling 45 lbs.
- Able to withstand prolonged standing, with bending and sporadic lifting
- Possess strong attention to detail including questioning, evaluating, and bettering every process that you are involved in including fellow departments
