General Responsibilities: The main focus and responsibility is to assure that staff is competent in all areas and aspects of their position, including Right Intervention (RI) training. This position will be responsible for training at and traveling to multiple facilities in Tampa and the surrounding areas.
Duties:
1. Knowledgeable in all Policies & Procedures of Wayne Halfway House, Inc. as well as DSS/DJJ/DCS Policies (as they are updated periodically).
2. Work directly with staff on training materials, issues, etc. such as but not limited to:
a- Keeping daily logs.
b- Ensure the staff know how to efficiently handle and report crisis situations.
c- Ensure staff know how to maintain discipline following state guidelines.
d- Ensure staff know how to accurately fill out documents: SIR’s, write-ups, etc.
3. Perform all Monthly In-Service Training sessions (based on topics scheduled on a fiscal year calendar).
4. Assist the Security Supervisor w/ensuring staff complete all monthly training.
5. Observe staff in training, to ensure they conduct themselves in a firm, non-offensive, professional manner.
6. Be able to rate the employee on their competency level of the required responsibilities upon training completion, and complete a training completion competency form.
7. Follow all applicable policies of WHWH and have a firm understanding of duties/responsibilities on ALL shifts..
8. Participate in the PQI program as requested.
9. Demonstrate competence in cultural knowledge, awareness, & sensitivity.
10. Perform other job related duties as assigned by Program Management.
Qualifications & Experience: A Staff Development Instructor must have a High School Diploma/GED and at least 1 year experience in a youth correctional setting. RI certification required.
NO FELONY CONVICTIONS. Must pass a drug screen and background check and maintain eligibility for continued employment.
