Measures for Justice is a nonpartisan nonprofit organization dedicated to developing tools and services that help communities, including the institutions that serve them, reshape how the criminal justice system works. Since 2011, we have been collecting, standardizing, and publishing criminal justice data to increase transparency, accessibility, and accountability. Role Overview
As a Product Owner I/II at Measures for Justice, you will play a critical role in developing and enhancing our product portfolio. Working closely with our Product & Design team, you will manage and maintain the product backlog to ensure alignment with strategic product and organizational goals. You will also lead prioritization efforts by gathering user and technical requirements and defining user stories. Through your contributions, you will help ensure that we are delivering high-quality products to help communities reshape the criminal justice system.
Key Responsibilities
Manage and prioritize product backlog by gathering user and technical requirements, and defining user stories
Support VP of Product and Design throughout entire product lifecycle by documenting ideas, gathering and analyzing metrics, and validating courses of action
Drive requirements gathering process, translating customer needs into detailed requirements for development by engineers
Provide guidance to cross-functional teams by refining product backlogs, prioritizing work, and creating user stories
Organize epics and stories, lead refinement processes, and facilitate sprint planning meetings
Provide support to cross-functional teams by managing some Agile processes and rituals
Delegate tasks, resolve conflicts, and escalate issues effectively to ensure timely project completion and maintain a collaborative team environment
Assist in customer feedback collection efforts, monitor product performance, and propose process improvements
Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging by modeling inclusive behaviors and proactively managing bias
Your Experience
Proven background as product analyst, product owner, and/or other related roles
Demonstrated experience working through the full software development lifecycle (SDLC) in an Agile environment
Proficient in gathering technical requirements and translating them into user stories
Proven experience refining and prioritizing product backlogs
Skilled in building coherent epics organized into user story themes
Proven experience in process management, including organizing and facilitating Agile processes and rituals, sprint planning, and backlog refinement
Strong communication, listening, and collaboration skills, enabling effective cross-functional teamwork and stakeholder management
Highly skilled in prioritization and time management skills, with the ability to effectively multitask and solve problems
Bonus Points
Bachelor’s degree in business, computer science, engineering, finance, marketing, or a related field
Experience using SQL for gathering and analyzing database metrics
