At the Darien Y, we have a top-notch gymnastics team/program, and we need your experience and expertise to help us continue our devotion to having one of the best programs in the area.
With three National Championships and numerous regional and local honors to our name, our aim is to continue the tradition with exceptionally talented coaches like you leading the way. As an instructor for the program, you will be guiding gymnasts of all levels, pre-school to school-age recreational classes, in the proper techniques and disciplines of the sport while promoting a fun and welcoming environment.
The Gymnastics Coach is a dynamic individual who comes to work with a smile and genuinely enjoys working with athletes, parents, members, and staff. From the gymnastics arena, you will bring your superior knowledge, skills, and leadership to effectively communicate with and guide athletes in proper gymnastics techniques. As a dedicated coach, you ensure a safe and enthusiastic sporting environment in which your athletes will thrive.

Some additional duties for the Gymnastics Coach include, but are not limited to:
- Regularly work M-F 3:15pm - 6:15pm and Saturday 10:15am - 1:15pm
- Keep accurate class attendance records and follow up with supervisor and parents as needed regarding attendance and/or gymnast’s progress.
- Know, understand, and consistently apply safety rules, policies, and guidelines for the gymnastics training areas.
- Communicate with all participants and parents regarding schedules, trainings, classes, in a timely manner.
- Work closely with Gymnastics Director, Assistant Coaches, and other staff to ensure proper class management and instruction.
- Maintain knowledge of industry trends and coaching techniques.
Qualifications:
- Professional, friendly, effective verbal and written communication skills
- 1-3 Years Gymnastics Coaching experience or desire to learn gymnastics coaching
- Current CPR/AED, Coaches Safety Training Certifications, USA Gymnastics membership (We will help you obtain these certifications)
- Punctual and reliable with ability to fulfill all coaching responsibilities.
- Must possess auditory, verbal, and visual capabilities to monitor team environment effectively.
Working Conditions:
- Sit, stand, or maintain physical activity for extended periods of time, including continuous physical endurance between 1-4 hours.
- Frequently required to climb, kneel, reach, push, balance, crouch, pull, grasp, stoop, crawl, lift and talk.
- Subject to moderate noise levels.
- Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs.
