Grace Weekday Preschool is a community-based preschool located in, and a ministry of, Grace Presbyterian Church. Our goal is to foster social, emotional, cognitive, physical, and spiritual growth in young children 2 - 5 years of age.
The preschool follows the FCPS calendar for all closings and holidays. Our school year begins after Labor Day and runs through May. All preschool staff members must be available to attend teacher professional development the last week of August.
The Preschool Support Specialist position will provide both classroom support and office support for our program. The specialist will primarily serve as a teacher for all age groups and across all programming. The specialist will also provide a few hours of dedicated office support each week when not teaching. Modeling best practices in early childhood education and demonstrating knowledge of VA and NAEYC childcare standards is essential. This role includes a leadership and administrative component that will require occasional management of the office and staff mentoring.
The hours for this position are 9 am - 1 pm three days per week and 9 am - 2 pm two days per week. Preschool staff members are paid for holidays and school closures and also receive paid time off for sick and personal leave.
Prior preschool teaching experience is required, and a certification or degree in Early Childhood Education is preferred. Experience in general office operations and administration is also preferred.
Additionally, successful candidates must:
-receive an annual doctor's statement of satisfactory health along with a tuberculosis screening.
-pass all required background checks.
-maintain a CPR and First Aid certification and a Medication Administration Training certification.
-complete annual professional development hours.
