Job Summary:
The Arizona Department of Juvenile Corrections (ADJC) is seeking an Education Program Manager (working title: DJ Assistant Principal), who will assist the Principal in the supervision of teachers and staff members assigned to his/her school using leadership, supervisory and administrative skills to promote the educational development of each of their students. A significant emphasis is focused on knowledge of student instruction and learning, standardized assessment, Section 504 of Rehabilitation Act and Exceptional Student Services (ESS) and student system management. May also act as the school principal in their absence. Serves as the Instructional Leader of the school’s academic programs.
Job Duties:
- Supervision of (1/2) of General Education Teachers and PPS 1; monitoring and frequent observation of the instructional programs
- Provide feedback for growth and development of the teachers and provide academic data
- Lead testing coordinator for all grade levels
- Facilitate testing for Arizona English Language Learner Assessment (AZELLA), Youth Act, military testing, post testing and OSHA 510 certification
- Usage of School Management System (PowerSchool)
- Assess, track and assist all students in the areas of academic and career goals each academic term
- Responsible for a master schedule and course catalog of courses within the established guidelines to meet all student needs
- Practice management fidelity of the administration and analysis of assessment data used for intake, GED, TABE, etc.
- Conduct direct and frequent observations of the instructional programs and provides feedback for growth and development of the team
- Monitors and analyzes student data for effectiveness of the curriculum
- Responsible for a master schedule of classes within established guidelines to meet student needs
- Involvement in facility leadership meeting and activities
- Communicate with the Arizona Department of Education
- Perform other duties as assigned

Selective Preference(s):
The Preferred Candidate should have one of the following:
- REQUIRED: Must possess a current Arizona Department of Education Principal Certification for Grade Levels K-12
- Must possess a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Education OR;
- Master Degree or higher from an accredited college or university
- Experience within a correctional facility is preferred but not required
- Minimum of three (3) years teaching experience
- Must possess a minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in administering education programs

If this position requires driving or the use of a vehicle as an essential function on the job, then the following requirements apply. Any employee operating a motor vehicle on State business must possess and retain a current, valid class-appropriate driver’s license, complete all required training, and successfully pass all necessary driver’s license records checks. The license must be current, unexpired, and neither revoked nor suspended. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records, and must complete all driver training.
