American Ballet Theatre (ABT) is one of the greatest dance companies in the world. Since its founding season in 1940, ABT’s mission has been to create, present, preserve, and extend the incredible repertoire of classical dancing for the widest possible audience. Headquartered in New York City, ABT is the only cultural institution of its size and stature to extensively tour, enchanting audiences for eight decades in 50 U.S. states, 45 countries, and over 480 cities worldwide. Working in close concert with the Associate Director of Special Events, the Manager of Special Events will be involved in planning, organizing, and executing a variety of donor events for ABT. This role requires a highly organized, creative, and detail-oriented individual who can manage multiple projects simultaneously and work collaboratively across teams.

Works with the Associate Director of Special Events to plan, execute, and oversee ABT membership events, including donor receptions, studio visits, dress rehearsals, and other special events as assigned.

Assist with planning and execution of several annual fundraising events such as ABT’s Spring Gala, Fall Gala, Holiday Benefit, and other fundraising events throughout the year

Serves as the primary liaison between the Artistic/Production and Development departments on matters involving dancer participation, backstage tours/venue use, and class/rehearsal viewings.

Manage various administrative tasks like invoicing, acknowledgement letters and interdepartmental memos.

Interview, train, and supervise the Special Events Intern.

Other duties as assigned.

Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 3 years of experience in event planning, preferably within the performing arts or non-profit sector is required.

Proven track record of successfully managing donor events and fundraising initiatives.

Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and meet strict deadlines.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.

Must work collaboratively with colleagues across the organization.

Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, and Raisers Edge required.

Passion for the performing arts and a commitment to supporting the mission and goals of ABT.

Knowledge of New York philanthropic circles is a plus.
