Position Summary
Early Head Start Manager provides leadership and oversight to ensure the delivery of responsive services in line with the Early Head Start (EHS) performance standards and continuous quality improvement efforts to ensure children achieve their highest potential through providing high-quality, culturally relevant, and inclusive home and center based programs. The EHS Manager will monitor and use data to assist with allocating resources, pursue partnership opportunities to enhance professional development for all staff, coordinate support for families and ensure compliance with all contract requirements, including federal, state, and city quality standards. The EHS Manager supervises the Early Head Start Coordinators (Health, Coach, Family Services, Education and Disabilities).
Essential Functions
Training and Coaching
- Provide EHS Coordinators with training, modeling, and coaching to ensure the delivery of responsive services in line with the Early Head Start (EHS) performance standards and curricula.
- Coordinate with the Coach to support the development of the Early Head Start Team, and the professional development of Home Visitors/Teachers.
Supervision and Evaluation
- Observe, evaluate, and provide feedback on EHS Coordinator skills through Reflective and Administrative Supervision.
- Monitor and support EHS Coordinators in maintaining accurate, up-to-date records/data of child progress, parent goals, family recruitment, family health, and data entry into electronic data systems.
Program Monitoring and Performance
- Monitor Program Information Report (PIR) using electronic data system and tracking system to ensure health, child development, and family partnership goals are being set and met in a timely fashion.
- Monitor overall program performance and develop plans to identify and address concerns, as well as grow and support team capacity as a whole.
- Oversee Early Head Start Staffing, enrollment management and scheduling to ensure the program is meeting requirements.
Family and Child Support
- Work to identify and address barriers preventing children and families from succeeding in child development, school readiness and family well-being.
- Coordinate with Head Start programs, Home Visitors, and families to ensure a smooth transition for children into and out of the EHS program.
- Collaborate with staff to identify solutions to increase Retention, Engagement, and participation.
Community and Resource Coordination
- Coordinate with Child Development, community partners, and consultants to facilitate appropriate referrals and connection with Early Intervention or other community resources, as needed.
- Support planning and facilitation of group socializations with Home Visitors, Health Services, and Family Community Partnerships Coordinators.
Administrative and Leadership Duties
- Responsible for hiring, training, and supervising assigned staff.
- May serve as the program administrator in the Early Head Start Director’s absence.
- Other duties as assigned.
Direct Service (if applicable)
- May maintain a small home visiting caseload or Classroom duties.
