JOB TITLE: Dispatcher
DEPARTMENT: Transportation Sales and Services
JOB OVERVIEW: This position is responsible for providing general supervision and oversight of work performed by drivers. The position is also responsible for duties that include but is not limited to: interviewing, selecting new employees, training, planning/assigning work, directing work, performance evaluations, conduct and discipline, addressing complaints and resolving problems. Additional duties include but are not limited to as follows:
- Implements corrective action for performance and conduct issues.
- Maintains continuous awareness on the need for improvement in department procedures, work methods, techniques and devises such improvements ensuring that subordinates are aware of changes.
- Ensures dispatch policies are developed and department deadlines are completed on time.
- Ensures all dispatch equipment is maintained and in operational condition.
- Provides oversight to ensure the management of the line haul scheduling of trucks.
- Ensures updates on existing loads in progress and manage operational exceptions are completed by the staff.
- Provides oversight to ensure that Dispatch local truck activity to include Regional account specific requirements are met.
- Manages the Network capacity and resources for each HUB to maximize profitability and minimize service failures.
- Ensures that staff creates and/or update shipments in Supply Vision.
- Establishes, grows, and maintains vendor resources.
- Works with sales personnel to cover FTL and LTL requests from customers.
- Provides guidance on negotiation of carrier rates.
- Identifies and resolves client concerns.
- Prepares a variety of status reports, follow up and adhere to company goals.
- Works weekend rotations and remain beyond core schedule to assure customer satisfaction
- Performs other duties, as needed.
Requirements/ Skills/Abilities:
- Must have excellent communication skills and ability to work with different people and transportation methodologies.
- Must have strong initiative and problem solving skills.
- Must be an organized and self motivated individual with the ability to interface and function effectively in a high pressure multitasking environment while maintaining a professional demeanor with customers, vendors and team members.
- Must have strong organizational and prioritization skills to make decisions independently of supervisory direction and exercise judgment.
- Must be able to maintain sensitivity to proprietary matters.
- Must have a solid understanding of computer systems, internet applications and Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Predictable and regular attendance is an essential function of this job.
Education and/or Experience Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent acceptable.
- Must have a minimum 4 years freight forwarding and/or surface transportation experience to include expedited ground movement and experience in the capacity of customer service, dispatch, or operations.

Pay: $45,000.00 - $53,000.00 per year
