Overview:
We are currently seeking to hire an individual of remarkable character and integrity in the role of construction Site Safety & Health Officer (SSHO) to complement and assist our existing professional team primarily in federal or private contracts. The ideal candidate would be a pillar for the J&J safety team, able to accept direction, demonstrate confidence, possess superior communication skills (verbal and written) and be highly functional in independent as well as collaborative environments.
This role is responsible for managing and performing the daily Site Safety & Health responsibilities in a heavy construction environment to ensure projects are constructed in accordance with the established standards. The Site Safety & Health Officer provides direct oversight and review of the entire documentation and physical inspection phase of the workflow process. The SSHO reports to the Sr. Safety & QC Manager and works with Project Managers, Superintendents, etc. and external personnel to produce and document safety performance.

Duties & Responsibilities:
- Review & Management of APPs, AHAs/JHAs & Safety Plans
- Present safety evaluations & coordination with production & quality control functions on project & weekly owner and subcontract meetings.
- Possess 30 Hour OSHA and current First Aid/CPR certification.
- Assist in safety compliance enforcement
Required Education and Experience, Skills and Certificates:
- Proficient in Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat and Internet
- OSHA 30 Construction
- First Aid/CPR/AED Certified
- A bachelor’s degree in a safety related field preferred
- A minimum of 5-10 years of construction industry experience for SSHO position
- Experience with federal and civil construction projects preferred but not necessary.
