The Senior Physical Security Systems Engineer is responsible for the design, configuration, testing, installation, monitoring and maintenance of the complex Brandeis video surveillance system, access control systems, and related components. This includes, but is not limited to video cameras, recording servers, and access control infrastructure. The position includes working with non-ITS staff as well as outside vendors in delivery of public safety security services. This position is complex in nature, dealing with complicated and integrated IT systems, working all areas of campus including senior leadership, and direct oversight of multiple third-party contractors and vendors on a daily basis.
Job Description:
Responsible for the configuration, operation, monitoring and maintenance of public safety security systems and infrastructure. This includes troubleshooting and resolving public safety security system issues and service requests submitted via trouble tickets, email, voice mail and/or reported by monitoring software.
Responsible for the design, testing and installation of new/upgraded public safety security systems and services, ensuring the reliability and recoverability of the public safety security systems by implementing and testing best-practice configurations and fault-tolerant designs.
Act as on-site technical point of contact for public safety security systems requiring outside vendor participation, including but not limited to campus video surveillance, access control, energy management, and card access.
Represent ITS, public safety security systems, and network interests and provide technical specifications with regard to Capital Projects and other non-ITS projects that may occur.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree is required
5-8 years of related work experience is required
Must have extensive experience managing camera surveillance systems preferably in Milestone.
Must have experience managing or administering access control systems.
Must have experience overseeing the work of contractors and 3rd party workers.
