LOGISTICS MANAGER

Job Summary
Logistics Manager will directly coordinate and plan the warehouse storage and distribution of the products and materials within branch locations. They manage the activities of employees who are engaged in shipping, receiving, storing, stocking, checking, assembling, and delivering the products to the customers. They are responsible for developing and implementing security and safety programs and achieving quick, accurate, and safe product delivery to customers at the lowest possible cost while maintaining customer satisfaction.
Essential Job Functions
- Shipping, receiving, and delivery management:
- Coordinate shipping and receiving schedule, equipment, and staffing.
- Checking and verifying shipping records, handling questions or concerns of shipping shortages or overages, and addressing any problems with inventory control.
- Overseeing the maintenance of vehicles, machinery, and equipment.
- Oversee scheduling truck drivers, and coordinate delivery routes and loading dock use.
- Warehouse layout & space management:
- Analyze, plan, and improve warehouse layout to maximize the efficiency of space usage.
- Periodically monitor and analyze inventory movement and adjust “pick face”.
- Ensure product inventory safety and quality.
- Minimize inventory losses and record discrepancies.
- Customer service management:
- Develop and maintain a service-orientated workforce and ensure the service standards, policies, and procedures are closely followed.
- Validate agreements with individual customers against company rules and policies.
- Analyze information obtained from customer complaints to improve and maintain the product quality control system.
- Work process and cost management:
- Analyze the workflow and develop and implement new processes to reduce the manpower and work hours required.
- Discuss with other department personnel about sales, purchasing, production, and record control to ensure that warehouse activities are running efficiently.
- Warehouse distribution system management:
- Monitor and ensure that the system is functioning according to the planned purpose.
- Identify and eliminate the system glitch on a daily basis.
- Monitor and manage warehouse employees and environment to ensure compliance with the federal and state laws that are governed by, including but not limited to, the Department of Transportation and the Department of Labor.
- Employee health & safety program management:
- Ensuring that all appropriate safety regulations are being followed both with regard to personal safety and the safety of inventory.
- Conduct periodic safety meetings with the warehouse employees.
- Ensure that all warehouse personnel receive proper training and certification to handle equipment in a safe manner.
- Ensuring the health, safety, cleanliness, tidiness, and security of the work environment.
- Ensuring that our products are safe to consume during receiving, stocking, assembling, loading, and delivery.
- Monitor warehouse and delivery operations in accordance with company food safety programs that their operations are to ensure consumer safety, and provide appropriate directions when non-conformance activities are observed.
- Warehouse employee management:
- Plan and coordinate adequate staffing to ensure safe and accurate warehouse operations.
- Conduct interviews and make decisions on warehouse staff hiring.
- Supervise and train employees to work in the warehouse either as laborers, equipment operators, product handlers, drivers, clerks, or inventory control personnel.
- Monitor and manage employees to maintain good attendance and punctuality.
- Conducts yearly performance evaluations on all warehouse personnel and assists employees in the attainment of high individual productivity and performance of the responsibilities and duties contained in their job description.
Experience/ Training/ Education
6 years of Distribution Management experience
4 years’ experience in warehousing or in supervising hourly production/warehouse employees and processes.
- Solid and proven hands-on supervisory/management skills are a must along with the interpersonal skills needed to maximize operations.
- Experience utilizing Warehouse Management Systems.
- Must be a strong leader, able to lead a team of supervisors and warehouse associates in a sales growth environment.
Training/ Certifications
- Forklift, Electric Pallet Jack is training and certificate.
Education Requirements
Minimum 4 Year / Bachelors or equivalent years of distribution management experience
Knowledge, Skills, and Ability
- Knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures of the warehouse environment.
- Knowledge of ERP or Oracle systems is desired.
- Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resource modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resource
- Knowledge of the principles and procedures for personnel recruitment, selection, training, compensation and benefits, labor relations, and personnel information systems.
- Knowledge of principles and methods for moving goods by air, rail, sea, or road, including the relative costs and benefits
- Principles of methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement of training effects.
- Knowledge of DOT, OSHA rules and regulations
- Experience and working knowledge of transportation routing and vehicle tracking programs is highly desirable
- Knowledge of basic food safety for ensuring consumer health.

Physical Demands
Logistic Manager will spend long hours standing, bending, twisting, walking, stretching, lifting materials and products up to 50 pounds, and carrying smaller items. The work still can be strenuous, even though mechanical materials-handling equipment is employed to move heavy items. Some Logistic Managers will spend time in the refrigerated (Deli and Freezer) section of the warehouse. Machinery operation requires the use of safety equipment including but not limited to steel-toed boots. The typical workweek is Monday through Friday (standard 40 hours per week); however, evening, night shift, overtime, and weekend hours are common in some branch offices. Travel may be involved. For example, attendance at meetings sponsored by Corporate HQ or Logistics HQ meetings is mandatory.

Pay: $85,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
