Responsibilities for hospital billing with EPIC experience
- The RC Accounts Receivable Representative must have a thorough knowledge of government, commercial, HMO,PPO and other types of insurance billing guidelines in multiple states demonstrate effective judgment when processing all claims.
- Understand reimbursement practices for all payers.
- Work with payers to obtain accurate reimbursement and to help identify and correct fee schedule load errors or misinterpretations
- Understands insurance eligibility and coverage benefits.
- Update coverage and ensure claims are resubmitted to payers.
- Review insurance plan guidelines against the patient account and records to determine issues that delay claim from processing correctly.
- Effectively resolves assigned work queues accounts and completes account follow up activities including: obtaining claim status, responds to insurance company and other authorized third-party inquiries, including return of calls and research needed to bring account to final resolution.
- Completes all necessary research and account follow-up activities to resolve inquiries. Ensures that the resolution completed meets the department's standards.
- Evaluate late charges (adjustments vs billing)
- Research accounts via payer websites by confirming claim, itemized bills, medical records, and appeal receipt.
- Perform underpayment reviews and process adjustment to ensure accounts are closed after payments are posted.
- Write dispute and appeals for underpayment accounts.
Qualifications for hospital billing
- Minimum five experience as an Account Representative in a hospital setting.
- EPIC experience with Epic -3 to 5 yrs
- Strong knowledge/experience in hospital billing and account workflows and processes is required.
- Working knowledge of key areas of the healthcare billing and collections practices including claim and appeals requirements.
- Working knowledge of payer contracts
- Experience commercial collections/denials and with payors such as
BlueCross, Aetna, Medicare/Managed Care, Med-Cal/Managed Care)
- Able to work in a Remote environment.
