The Early Childhood Specialist will carry out the activities of the agency’s vision of building access, awareness and connections of early childhood experiences supporting children, families, and workforce. The Specialist will enrich the quality of child care providers through the provision of observing, assessing, training, and coaching, Extend and expand professional development training to develop early childhood professionals and families to improve the quality of early learning experiences for all children.
The Early Childhood Specialist:
- Collaborates with peers to develop and carry out grant and stakeholder initiatives in alignment with agency’s vision and mission.
- Facilitates a process to guide providers to develop individual plans to improve their environments, teaching practices to support young children’s growth and development, and overall program quality.
- Assists providers to identify resources, strategies and supplies to enhance quality systems build relationships, create appropriate environments, and teach social-emotional skills in children.
- Recommends and/or provides professional development services that incorporate best practice in child development, adult learning theory and meet the needs of individual programs and community needs.
- Gains and applies knowledge of best practices in the field to deliver services that incorporate best practice in child development and adult learning theory to meet the needs of programs and the community and seeks opportunities for professional growth.
- Develops trusting relationships with community partners, early childhood providers, and families that support a strengths-based approach to coaching and training to increase quality in programming.
- Collects, prepares, and maintains accurate information and data as required and consistently monitors information and data to ensure progress on established goals.
- Communicates with community partners to access external support when needed.
- Reports outcomes of projects to stakeholders.
- Attends regularly scheduled meetings with other coaches, community partners, and professional development staff.
- Follows EC LEARN’s policies and procedures.
- Participates in meetings and accepts the responsibility for aiding the development of positive team and funder relationships.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Human Development and Family Studies, Human Ecology, or related field.
- Minimum three (3) years of experience in early learning and development and/or school-age settings.
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience working with adult learners
- Maintains appropriate state credentials or requirements: a Level 4 or higher Kentucky Trainer’s Credential or meets State of Ohio’s instructor requirements.
- Knowledge of child development and program administration.
- Knowledge of Licensing and Regulations for Certified Family Child Care and Type II Providers
- Knowledge of Kentucky ALL STARS
- Knowledge of Family Child Care Environment Rating Scale®, Third Edition (FCCERS-3™)
- Knowledge of adult learning styles and methods professional development.
- Operates in a self-directed and organized manner in order to successfully meet objectives.
- Must be able to build relationships with teachers and co-workers based on mutual respect, demonstrate effective communication skills, practice conflict resolution skills, have an ongoing commitment to learning, possess good observation skills, and model best practices working with young children.
- Communicates effectively with diverse audiences both verbally and in writing.
- Sufficient computer skills to communicate electronically and produce accurate and timely reports as required.
- Must be able to travel throughout the region of Northern Kentucky with occasional travel to conferences and other events and perform routine agency errands.
- Must have evening and weekend availability.
- Must have a clear background check.
- Maintain confidentiality.
- For safety, must have access to cell phone at all times while in the field.
- Must be able to safely lift and/or transport up to 25 lbs.

Pay: $38,000.00 - $40,000.00 per year
