Emerald Heights is currently looking for an energetic, knowledgeable, and compassionate individual to work in our fitness department as a Group Fitness Instructor. The daily duties include teaching group fitness classes, personal training, and occasionally working on educational presentations. You will have the ability to use your creativity and skillset to create and implement classes that will engage the residents. We are looking for an individual that is creative and excited to make a difference in the lives of our residents.

Pay: $21.50-$24.50
Schedule: Monday - Friday - 7:30am - 4:00pm OR 8am - 4:30pm

Primary Responsibilities:
- Teaching and educating in a group and individual fitness setting.
- Identifies residents who may benefit from fitness programs.
- Assists residents and staff through the process of actively working towards better health by providing support, encouragement, and education in the areas of fitness, weight management, stress reduction, health and risk management and reducing barriers to reaching fitness goals.. Process includes assessing the client's readiness to change, developing a Wellness Vision Plan, setting goals, helping client identify obstacles and developing strategies to overcome obstacles.
- Provides monthly progress reports to the Fitness Program Coordinator relative to the percent participation of each client group in fitness programs and one-on-one personal training.
- Leads exercise classes and maintains personal training program for participating residents and staff.
- Assists with screening and establishes baselines for residents and staff.
- Identifies and documents in medical/exercise charts, problems, improvements, interests, and needs of residents in accordance with facility policies.
- Works closely with the therapy contractors in assisting and/or setting up individual fitness programs for residents transitioning out of Physical Therapy. Identifies residents that could benefit from Physical Therapy.
- Maintains exercise equipment in accordance with policy and reports any concerns to the Fitness Program Coordinator.
- Maintains adequate supplies and reports any foreseeable shortages to Fitness Program Coordinator.
- Assists with planning and implementation of employee wellness program incentives and events.
- Contributes to newsletters and publications when appropriate.
- Completes required in-services.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
- High school or GED required. Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Physiology or related field preferred.
- Current certification in ACSM, ACE, or NSCA preferred.
- A minimum of two years’ experience in exercise program implementation preferred.. Work with older adult populations preferred.
- Experience in personal physical training preferred.
- Current CPR/First Aid certification or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment.
- Experience in teaching group fitness and/or personal training preferred.
- Ability to create, organize and implement fitness programs.
- Ability to work well with older adults and staff.
- Possess advanced working knowledge of Microsoft office suite programs.
- Regular, dependable and reliable attendance.
- Excellent English communications skills both verbal and written.
