We operate three state of the art manufacturing facilities and one of the few coating plants in the United States. Strategically located in Hatfield, MA, Martins Ferry, OH and Sebring, FL, our locations enable us to provide high-quality products and outstanding service throughout the Northeast, Mid Central, Mid Atlantic and Southern markets.
The Process Engineer will be responsible for the planning, introduction, implementation and improvement of products, processes, and procedures into the manufacturing system to ensure the attainment of desired objectives for the least cost, and to recommend to management developments in manufacturing that will enhance the profitability or competitive position of the company. Implements best practices and policies that sustain effective and efficient manufacturing processes. Responsible for project management of assigned capex projects.
Role and Responsibilities
- Monitors and makes recommendations to improve operational efficiency.
- Researches and identifies fiscally sound potential projects and then uses established leadership skills to build, develop and lead teams to execute a solution for the project.
- Responsible for monitoring day to day process activity and recommending improvements to maximize efficiency to include waste, speed, delay, and raw material usage.
- Manage the coordination, implementation, and standardization of manufacturing process improvements. Establish and/or revise Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s).
- Responsible for supporting new technology, implementing trial plans and being the primary contact for process optimization.
- Assess and set-up production infrastructure and production process flow set-up.
- Perform risk assessments to determine what kind of improvements could be made to keep the facility running smoothly and efficiently.
- Responsible for reviewing safety and quality standards to ensure the manufacturing environment is properly meeting these guidelines.
- Review and give initial approval of equipment specifications, performance requirements, cost analysis, and proposal for integrating machinery and equipment into the manufacturing process.
- Ensure new parts and optimization projects are completed by the required deadline, at reasonable cost, and with a robust process.
- Integrate work with Production, Quality, Purchasing, and Scheduling Departments to ensure a smooth flow of quality products through the factory.
- Oversee the development of new processes, methods, and production controls.
- Installs new equipment and ensures that it operates correctly; trains others to operate new machinery.
- Study and record time, motion, methods, and speed involved in performance of production and other worker operations to establish standard production rates and to improve efficiency. Institutes changes in the production processes and/or recommends adjustments to product pricing.
- Confer with vendors to determine part specifications and recommend the purchase of equipment and materials used in manufacturing and production.
- Estimate production times, staffing requirements, and related costs for management decisions.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related science
- Minimum 5 years’ experience (can have experience in lieu of degree)
- Requires knowledge of LEAN manufacturing principles.
- Strong analytical, communication and decision-making skills
- Self-starter, with excellent organizational and project management skills.
- Strong IT competency in Microsoft Office Programs (i.e. Excel, Outlook, etc.)
- Experience with AutoCAD
- Proficient in all Microsoft Office products including Excel and Outlook
- Experience drafting and analyzing financial data (including budgets and revenue projections)
- Strong communication skills, able to multi-task and prioritize workload.
Preferred Skills
- Understanding of operations, contract administration, contract management, processes, and standards
- Ability to prioritize and work with limited direct supervision.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills required.
- Must be able to define solutions and resolve issues through a conceptual and efficient thought process.
- Analytical thinker with strong conceptual and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
