Job Description
Job Title: Residential Worker (Therapeutic Community)
Department: Adult Behavioral Health
Reports To: Residential Supervisor
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt (Bargaining Unit)
Salary Range: $31,200 - $35,000
SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the Residential Supervisor, employees work with clients in a strengths-oriented manner that addresses the client's living skills needed to progress toward independence.
The residential worker works with a multi-disciplinary group of clinicians both internally and from other behavioral health providers to support the client’s residential stay.
The mission of the Residential Worker includes wide range service activities necessary to promote the independence and skill development of clients who experience severe and persistent mental illness.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Assists clients with daily living skills that maximize independence in the areas of self-care, food preparation, cleaning, adhering to a medication regimen, laundry, grooming/hygiene, keeping appointment, following a routine, verbalizing needs, and shopping.
- Teaches community living skills in the community.
- Provides crisis stabilization services and informs the case manager of any crisis occurrence.
- Monitors the client's self-administration of medication.
- Assesses client's self-care and training needs.
- Works with the client and case managers to develop a person centered residential individual service plan geared to provide the client with the resources necessary to achieve specific objectives directed toward maximizing the client's independent functioning.
- Prepares reports as needed and maintains client documentation in accordance with O’MHAS,
- ADAMHS, and CARF requirements and standards.
- Notifies the case manager or in their absence the agency clinical supervisor of any significant changes in the client's status.
- Provides a variety of support-oriented activities which focus on relationships with others residents and with the problems encountered in dealing with the impact of mental illness.
- Functions to promote client's ability to make choices.
- Maintains the confidentiality of all records and materials in accordance with HIPAA policies and rules.
- Inspects the grounds and residential facility regularly and makes supervisor aware of any problem/concerns that are evident.
QUALIFICATIONS: One year's experience in Mental Health. Must be willing to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends. Certified in CPR and First Aide required.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS: The following are requirements of this job and must be met and maintained at all times during employment in this job:
1. Ability to pass a drug and alcohol screen per the drug free workplace policy2. Ability to pass criminal background security screenings as required by regulations/laws related to: a) performing the essential duties of this job; b) working in and accessing partner institutions such as the criminal justice facilities, school, residential facilities, etc., c) working in and accessing a MTHSS institution such as a childcare center, residential center, or senior center, etc.
3. Possession of all valid professional licenses required by regulations/laws and accreditation related to performing the essential duties of the job.
4. Possession of a valid Standard Care Agreement if applicable to this job.5. Possession of a valid Ohio driver’s license with less than four (4) points on driving record
6. Possession of an automobile drivers insurance policy that meets state minimum requirements
7. Possession of an automobile with valid plates which meet state requirements8. Ability to perform the following for extended periods, periodically and frequently: a)
Lift a minimum of 10 lbs., b) Stoop, c) Kneel; d) Bend; e) Feel; f) Walk; and g)
