Position Summary:
Provides professional level skills in the teaching, counseling, training, and research aspects of health education programs in the community and for the institution.
Position Key Accountabilities:
- Contacts or may be contacted by various community agencies and participants for the planning and development of specialized educational programs and builds relationships with new community partners..
- Coordinates, promotes, and provides administrative assistance to multi-disciplinary programs which combine institutional interests/developments with community needs.
- Prepares, coordinates, organizes, schedules and conducts special events, classes, workshops, and/or training programs for health education topics across multiple locations. May perform these functions remotely.
- Provides educational training and research functions pertaining to various aspects of health education programs.
- May maintain and organize administrative records and details of contact.
- Coordinates and promotes multidisciplinary programs, establishes policies, provides administrative assistance, and coordinates activities with various standing committees in the Health Science Center.
- Provides information, referral, and consultation to faculty, staff, students, employees of other universities and organizations, and private individuals on community health education programs.
- Assists in the writing, editing, and reviewing of various publications, newsletters, and catalogs.
- Maintains and organizes administrative records of participants in the health education programs, workshops, activities, etc. and provides details of contact as needed.
- May perform other duties as assigned.
Certification/Skills:
Certified Community Health Education Specialist (CHES)
Minimum Education:
Bachelor’s degree in education, social work, or health related field.
Minimum Experience:
Three years of experience working with community agencies and health related institutions.
Physical Requirements:
Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.

Residency Requirement:
Employees must permanently reside and work in the State of Texas.
