Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Ophthalmic Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will provide exceptional patient care, support our ophthalmologists, and assist with various administrative tasks. The Ophthalmic Technician will work in a fast-paced clinic environment, interacting with patients and medical professionals daily. This role is ideal for individuals with a passion for ophthalmology and a commitment to providing outstanding patient service.
Responsibilities:
- Assist ophthalmologists with medical procedures and examinations.
- Perform various tests, including visual acuity, refractive error, and visual field tests.
- Operate specialized equipment, such as phoropters and retinoscopes.
- Conduct pre- and post-operative care for patients undergoing ophthalmic surgery.
- Prepare patients for exams, including taking medical histories and updating patient records.
- Provide exceptional customer service, answering questions and addressing concerns.
- Manage front desk duties, including scheduling appointments and handling phone calls.
- Maintain a clean and organized clinic environment, adhering to aseptic techniques.
- Assist with medical billing and coding, ensuring accurate and timely submissions.
- Stay current with the latest ophthalmic technologies and medical coding guidelines.
- Maintain knowledge of HIPAA regulations and ensure compliance at all times.
- Participate in continuing education to stay updated on ophthalmic procedures and techniques.
Skills:
- Strong understanding of ophthalmology and related medical procedures.
- Experience in a medical setting, preferably in an ophthalmic clinic.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Proficiency in medical billing and coding, including HIPAA compliance.
- Familiarity with optical equipment and techniques.
- Knowledge of physiology and its application in ophthalmology.
- Experience with sales and marketing techniques to promote ophthalmic services.
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and maintain a clean and organized workspace.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot technical issues and provide patient support.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: From $16.00 per hour
Expected hours: 24 – 32 per week
