Insurance Coordinator
This position will be responsible for performing (and/or overseeing) all front office insurance activities necessary for the scheduling of all patients requiring surgery or interventional procedures. Will also be responsible for obtaining all authorizations and pre-certifications of all cases scheduled at the surgery center.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
1. Responsible for obtaining all authorizations and insurance pre-certifications
2. Familiar with online commercial and Medicare/Medicaid on-line verification products
3. Prior experience with working on various EHR and practice management systems
4. Communicates with central billing office on any insurance denials
5. Will be responsible for putting chart packets together for next day surgical cases
6. Responsible for registering patients for surgery
7. Will eventually be expected to learn the scheduling process for both surgical and interventional patient
8. Will be expected to communicate effectively with physicians’ practices on obtaining patient information
9. Gather any missing pre-registration information from patients in order to obtain authorizations and pre-certifications
10. Any other task as required by the Center Manager
Prior Experience:
· Prior knowledge of the following is required:
o Commercial HMO and PPO products
o Traditional Medicare and Medicaid plans
o Medicare and Medicaid replacement products
o Accountable Care Organizations
· Thorough understanding and experience with working with various types of practice management and scheduling systems
· Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
Reports to Center Manager
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $19.83 - $23.88 per hour
