Maintenance Manager
Leads, supports, and prioritizes activities of maintenance and other staff. Educates and assists maintenance personnel with training, career goals, etc. Works closely with internal and external contacts in several areas including contract work responsibility. Prepares budgets and manages cost and timing of various projects. Purchases and maintains materials and equipment. Participates in continuous improvement processes and performs other duties as necessary in support of business objectives.
REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
· Minimum of five years related work experience; or equivalent with general knowledge and experience in preventative maintenance
Previous supervisor or manager experience required
· Strong communication skills in order to work with internal and external contacts at all levels within the organization and represent the Company in a professional manner
· Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills for successful performance of job duties
· Must understand business issues relevant to job and Company operating procedures and connect these to work priorities and resolve problems
· Ability to use standard and specialized equipment related to job (e.g. personal computer, hand and power tools, forklift, measuring instruments, etc.)
· Lead and develop others through support, training, etc.
· Must be able to manage staff toward departmental goals
· Project management and leadership skills to lead, manage, prioritize, and deal with many issues at one time
DUTIES
· Plans, prioritizes, communicates, and reviews workload of maintenance staff
· Motivates team toward goals, directs work, and provides technical leadership to ensure timely, quality completion of projects
· Ensures proper utilization of maintenance resources to meet manufacturing needs in a timely, cost-effective manner
· Teaches, instructs, and develops less experienced maintenance personnel as needed
· Selects or identifies candidates for employment/termination, conducts performance evaluations, assesses and ensures skill development, and conducts salary reviews of primarily nonexempt/hourly employees
· Assumes responsibility for maintenance contract work. Solicits, reviews, and awards bids to outside contractors and performs follow up with vendors involving processing paperwork and other ongoing issues.
· Acts as liaison with internal and external contacts as needed in accordance with departmental needs. Accommodates customer needs that may involve reorganizing workload and project timing as required.
· Plans, prepares, and reviews budget requirements relating to maintenance department. Purchases, tracks, and maintains maintenance materials, supplies, and activities. Ensures preventative maintenance of equipment.
· Participates in continuous improvement processes. Champions team ideas for ways to improve cost, timing, and quality processes related to Maintenance Department. Recommend changes applicable to respective situation.
· Ensures safety polices are being followed. Required to perform safety trainings or request appropriate training as related to machine repair. Ensure that unsafe conditions and actions in the work environment are corrected.
