Home Medix, a leading Durable Medical Equipment (DME) provider, is seeking a motivated and experienced Collections Agent to join our growing team. As a Collections Agent, you will play a crucial role in managing outstanding accounts, working with insurance companies, and resolving payment issues for our DME services.
Responsibilities:
- Review outstanding accounts receivable and identify accounts requiring collection efforts.
- Contact insurance companies to follow up on unpaid or partially paid claims, resolving any discrepancies or issues.
- Work with patients to establish payment plans or resolve outstanding balances.
- Maintain accurate records of all collection activities, including correspondence, phone calls, and payment arrangements.
- Collaborate with the billing department to resolve claim denials, underpayments, or other payment issues.
- Monitor the effectiveness of collection efforts and adjust strategies as needed.
- Stay up-to-date on relevant regulations and industry practices related to collections and DME billing.
- Provide excellent customer service while maintaining professionalism and confidentiality.
Requirements:
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in collections, preferably in the DME industry.
- Strong knowledge of medical billing, coding, and insurance procedures.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills.
- Proficient in using billing software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain professionalism and empathy when dealing with sensitive financial matters.
