Job Summary
We are looking for a master multi-tasker with excellent communication skills and an upbeat attitude. Candidates should be able to use school selected software "SameGoal" to write IEPs. IS will establish effective working relationship with the students’ family and teacher to facilitate progress toward IEP goals. The IS should have a helpful and positive presence in the workplace, as well as students and families.
To be successful as an Intervention Specialist at Millennium, candidates should be professional, polite, and attentive while also being accurate. They should always be prepared and responsive, willing to meet each students' learning challenge directly. Intervention Specialist must be comfortable with computers; Demonstrate successful teaching experience in an urban education setting; Ability to meet established deadlines and excel at both verbal and written communication. Most importantly, Intervention Specialists applying should have a genuine desire to meet the needs of the children we serve.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Use school selected software SameGoal to write IEPs;
- Update Special Education Files as needed;
- Complete Progress Reports;
- Facilitate Testing Accommodations during State testing;
- Evaluation of Interventions;
- Establish effective working relationship with the students’ families to facilitate progress toward IEP goals;
- Work closely with the Intervention team and classroom teacher in making sure that student needs are met, IEP goals are taught and IEP provisions are followed;
- Develop behavior plans for students whose behavior interferes with their or others’ learning and monitor progress;
- Assist with designing intervention and monitoring response to intervention for students who are struggling, but not identified for special education services;
- Meet compliance deadlines for IEP’s and ETR’s;
- Maintain and update school Special Education Planning file as meetings take place;
- Be knowledgeable of Special Education Forms as they relate to compliance and make sure all documents are completed and have the required signatures in a timely manner, including but not limited to: Contacting psychologist for evaluations;
- Ensure that all students identified with a disability are given the same learning opportunities as non-disabled students;
- Perform other duties, as deemed appropriate, by the Director.
Qualifications and Skills
- Current Mild to Moderate Intervention Specialist Licensure in Ohio;
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with teachers/ staff/community;
- Demonstrated successful teaching experience preferred in an urban education setting;
- Excellent oral and written communication skills;
- Effective organizational skills with the ability to perform multiple tasks;
- Ability to meet established deadlines.
