Job Description
At Events by M we pride ourselves in going above and beyond the expectations of our customers. We are in the business of making clients and their shareholders happy. Our Catering Event Coordinator will be responsible for selling, presenting, and executing all aspects of rewarded events. This role will require heavy experience with customer interaction. On-the-job training is common in this field, and prior food service experience is a plus. In addition to these responsibilities, our Catering Event Coordinator is also responsible for:
· Coordinating, communicating, and executing all details leading up to and delivery of the event
· Cultivating new business opportunities, while maintaining strong relationships with current customer base
· Adhering to budget while negotiating with our vendors to get best pricing for menus, along with attention to menus offered for the best value
· Timely response to leads and client questions (at least within 24 hours)
· Ability to manage multiple events at any given time
· Customizing to increase client satisfaction
· Full understanding of catering order requests
· Coordinate the location, décor, and other arrangements at venues to maintain profitability for business
· Implement and coordinate post-event follow-up (obtaining reviews of the event, maintain customer/client relationship while encouraging referrals through Thank You notes)
· Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications and Education Requirements
· Very strong organizational skills and follow through
· Creative and driven in sales tactics and marketing
· Compose clear, well-written, professional correspondence and other written communications
· Must be able to work flexible and extended hours and must be able to travel overnight as needed
· Ability to perform simple mathematical calculations, to include addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
· Having prior experience in the food service industry is useful for gaining an understanding of the business.
· Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
· Ability to read, understand, and negotiate vendor contracts on behalf of business.
· Strong spoken and written English skills and communication
· Outgoing personality with aptitude for describing an event with passion and excitement
· Special event coordination and catering experience
· Thrive in a fast paced, team oriented and sales driven office environment
· Scheduling flexibility to meet operational needs. Hours may be extended or irregular to include nights, weekends and holidays.
· Ability to work well in a high stress, fast paced environment.
· Strong Microsoft Excel Skills
· Comfortable with technology – eager to learn new systems
· Previous event experience a must
· High school diploma or equivalent.
