BSN Nurse Simulation and Lab Coordinator - Full Time
POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Full time Nurse Simulation and Lab Coordinator (NSLC) is responsible for the daily operations of simulation lab experiences, computer programming for simulation scenarios, simulation equipment maintenance, and lab supplies and equipment.
The NSLC is responsible for assigned nursing student instruction in accordance with established policies, procedures, and established Charter College requirements. Additional responsibilities include the maintenance and management of Basic Life Support (BLS) supplies and classes as needed for students and instructors.
The Full time Nurse Simulation Lab Coordinator reports to the Dean of Nursing.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Adheres to Charter College and the Nursing Department missions, philosophies, policies, and procedures.
- Exhibits sound clinical judgement, competence in nursing interventions, and proficiency in teaching.
- Follow current course outlines, objectives, and evaluation mechanisms for the program as developed by the nursing faculty.
- Create an environment in simulation, laboratory, and clinical settings that facilitates student learning and the achievement of desired cognitive, affective, and psychomotor outcomes.
- Help students develop as nurses and integrate values and behaviors of those that fulfill the role.
- Use a variety of strategies to assess learning in simulation, laboratory, and clinical settings.
- Maintains nursing skills, labs, and virtual patient environments in a safe, orderly, and working manner conducive to the achievement of program and course student learning outcomes
- Inventories stock, and orders supplies and lab equipment.
- Assists faculty in facilitating ongoing assessment of needs for laboratory equipment and supplies and communicates to the Dean of Nursing.
- Performs routine care and maintenance of equipment and arranges for repair/replacement of lab equipment, as necessary.
- Communicates with course instructors weekly to coordinate simulation, lab, and clinical activities to meet course and program objective and student learning outcomes.
- Develop simulation for the various laboratory experiences through collaboration with nursing faculty.
- Assists faculty in preparing simulation scenarios and lab/clinical experiences to enhance and reinforce achievement of program and course student learning outcomes.
- Facilitates lab set-up and clean-up as scheduled.· Assists students and instructors/professors in lab setting with teaching and evaluation.
- Provides support for clinical and lab skill remediation.
- Provides clinical or simulation instruction and evaluation as assigned.
- Attends clinical site meetings as requested by the Dean or Associate Dean of Nursing and/or required by clinical affiliates.
- Assists with the clinical orientation and any training needed to meet ongoing clinically relevant educational needs for instructors and students.
- Provides training and serves as a resource for adjunct clinical faculty.
- Assists the Dean of Nursing with orientation and training of new adjunct and full-time instructors as needed.
- Maintain Simulations scenarios resources.
- Remain current on best practices related to simulation equipment and simulations scenarios.
- Maintains current knowledge of simulation equipment catalogs and operation manuals
- Communicate with Dean of Nursing on all issues related to simulation scenarios, simulation equipment, lab supplies, and lab equipment as needed.
- Maintain Alaska Board of Nursing license in good standing.
- Ensure students follow the catalog guidelines daily
- Actively participates in nursing accreditation process.
- Maintain all BLS records in accordance with AHA guidelines.
- Oversee BLS classes for nursing students and faculty as needed
- Maintain professional appearance.
- Attends meetings or continuing education to maintain currency with simulation technology and use.
- Attends faculty, curriculum, and other departmental meetings.
- Participates in nursing committees, task forces, and functions, as assigned.
- Performs other duties, as assigned.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- BSN required
- Minimum three years as a registered nurse
- BLS instructor certificate required (or obtained within 60 days of hire date).
- Teaching experience preferred
- Healthcare simulation experience preferred. Willingness to develop expertise in this area required.
- Maintain current personal education, nursing license and certifications required to practice nursing in Alaska
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to think logically and follow directions
- Basic understanding of computer networking and audio/visual equipment.
- Interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to excel both independently and as a team member in a lively, collaborative environment.
COMPENSATION
- Full time - Exempt - Salaried position
- MIN: $ 85,000.00 MID: $90,000.00
- Compensation dependent on experience, knowledge, and education level
