Position Summary
The role is primarily focused on hand watering plants and performing minor plant/planter maintenance including replenishing soil and fertilizer, plus minor weeding. Maintenance staff will regularly move equipment and hoses, practice public safety awareness around hoses in use and safe and secure equipment handling, and keep areas around planters clean after maintenance work is complete. Watering and other tasks are performed during cooler morning hours, typically on three alternating days per week.
Experience or familiarity with plants is nice but not required – we will train.
Duties and Responsibilities
Planter Maintenance
- Hand water planters 2 - 3 times per week from the beginning of May – mid September. The last day for watering will be coordinated based on weather and seasonal needs
- Monitor irrigated planters on Hewitt and Wetmore Avenues
- Perform additional maintenance as needed, included weeding, adding fertilizer and potting soil to planters
- Use and transport equipment in a safe manner for self and the public
- Report any planter maintenance issues to your supervisor

- Strong interpersonal skills resulting in positive working relationships with the public, staff, city, Board of Directors, and other volunteers of the company
- Strong organizational and reasoning skills, and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently with little supervision
- Ability to lift 25 pounds
- Push and pull wheeled equipment, drag hoses, turn handles and knobs
Location and Schedule
· Location is downtown Everett
· Morning shift, typically 6 a.m. – 11 a.m. but can be flexible
· Three days per week
Job Types: Part-time, Temporary, Internship
Pay: $18.00 per hour
