Contract Environmental Waste Specialist
We are seeking an experienced environmental professional to join our client’s Environmental Team. This individual will be working at the client’s site as a contract employee and will be providing support to the site’s Environmental department. The environmental professional will report to the site’s Wastes & Water Environmental Engineer and will be responsible for supervising the site’s waste support team.
Candidates must be able to pass a graded background screen, pre-employment drug & alcohol screen.
Qualified candidates should have 7+ years of experience in waste management, waste minimization, waste treatment and storage, and waste transportation. This position is a key individual within the company that is seen as an environmental professional with extensive knowledge of state and federal regulatory requirements for a variety of industries including petrochemical, oil & gas and refining, storage terminal and manufacturing sectors. Will work closely with the Client’s Environmental, Operations, and Process Engineering departments. A successful candidate will foster good relationships with these departments to enhance environmental compliance within the Client’s facility.
Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:
· Responsible for waste (hazardous and non-hazardous) daily compliance monitoring and maintenance of the client’s site waste permits and waste manifests
· Evaluate noncompliance issues to ensure true preventive measures are identified and corrective actions are implemented
· Supervise contract waste support team’s activities and assist the waste support team in the daily waste management for the client’s site
o Set up daily and weekly meetings for follow-up
· Support the client’s site Environmental Engineer for profile and waste codes submission
· Site-wide walk-arounds twice a month to ensure that the site does not have abandoned waste and/or potential noncompliance waste situations
· Advise on the implementation of a waste valorization program
· Define the on-site storage areas for the client’s site, for hazardous and non-hazardous wastes/materials, drums and containers.
o Help the client site’s Environmental Engineer to update storage units on STEERS
· Improve the tracking system for wastes and materials to fit with both internal- and external- reporting
· Improve and update the client site’s waste management procedure. Ensure that is in-line with Corporate procedures.
· Implement the e-manifests with the help of the waste coordinator
Basic qualifications:
· 7+ years of experience minimum in regulatory compliance for waste management, waste minimization, waste treatment and storage, and waste transportation
· Experience in team management is required
· Candidate should have facilitation skills, be a team player, and be self-motivated
· RCRA and DOT certifications

Pay: $40.00 - $50.00 per hour
