Summary/Objective*
The Applications Engineer position serves as the first line of technical support for pump customers. This position requires a combination of sales, technical support, and engineering. This will involve coordinating product development with customers and design engineering when needed, providing information to customers to ensure that they are supplied with product that meets their needs, and supporting other areas as needed.
Essential Functions

- Deliver consistent and accurate shipping dates, warranty information, pricing, etc. from the Inside Sales Department
- Provide technical support for customers and sales, including but not limited to:
- Application information such as gear ratio, chassis fit, etc.
- Pump and pump package weights and dimensions.
- Equipment and motor/ engine fitment
- Basic performance information, including engine/ pump curves and expected performance based on customer specifications.
- Determining the correct order configuration as needed.
- Provide 3D models of pump configurations as needed with strong guidance and support from Design Engineering
- Create dimensional drawings as requested by sales/customers for new orders.
- Generate ECOs, new BOMs, FPs and kits as needed.
- Create technical publications and repair videos for the Darley website.
- Continuously improve processes within the department, driving initiatives that enhance customer experience and reduce internal labor input.
- Drive standardization of product through initiatives both with the internal and external teams and customers
- Investigate root cause of failures for warranty consideration and determine course of action (accept or decline warranty).
- Contribute to the development of new product through strategic market analysis.
- Build and maintain product configurator within ERP System
Other Duties
- Provide customers with product and service information.
- Respond to customer requests; enter orders and provide quotes.
- Verify information to ensure accuracy and completeness of data.
- Open customer accounts and maintain updates by recording account information.
- Ensure compliance with ISO standards within the department.

Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. This job may infrequently operate in an industrial manufacturing environment.
Physical Demands
Strength and movement: Work requires frequent lifting, reaching, and handling of parts, documents, and reports. Access to storage areas and containers require frequent climbing, crouching, bending, pulling, reaching, and stooping. Work involves substantial keyboard use. There is frequent movement within the facility.
Sensory ability: Vision must be sufficient to read instructions, words and numbers on paper and computer screens.
Communication: Verbal communication occurs frequently, with much of the time spent communicating in person or over the telephone with various internal departments and the suppliers.
Level of exertion: Work is usually light, requiring exertion of up to 20 pounds of force and frequent exertion of up to 10 pounds of force. Occasionally work is medium with exertion of up to 50 pounds. Work involves more walking and standing than is typical of other light work jobs.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Required Education and Experience
- Experience 3D Modeling/ Assembly using Solid works, Creo, or other CAD software.
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electromechanical, Engineering, Engineering Technology, or similar is preferred.
- Proven proficiency in basic computer literacy to include a basic understanding of business software.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints or other schematics.
