Job Summary: Under limited supervision, the Field Supervisor directs the work of field and snow production crews to ensure that jobs are completed efficiently and on budget and following CWL standards. Acts as a first-level liaison to clients and vendors to ensure job satisfaction and advance company-wide goals. 3+ years of landscaping production and crew management are required. Class “C” driver’s license.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities include the following (other duties may be assigned):
Supervise Production Crews
· Communicate, support, and advance CWL's mission and vision to staff and clients.
· Dispatch and receive crews in person each day to coordinate daily work assignments.
· Work with internal partners to train crews on proper safety procedures, equipment usage, and proper landscape techniques; reinforce all instruction through consistent application of learning activities.
· Follow CWL policy in all matters related to policy and procedures including but not limited to staff discipline, payroll, and safety.
· Adheres to department policies on recruitment, staffing, billing, and payroll.
· Records and enters employee time and resolves pay discrepancies.
· Keep abreast of trends and professional developments in the field and pursue and advance development opportunities for self and others.
· Work with Sr. Field Supervisor to ensure you have the appropriate equipment and staffing needed to complete work.
· Monitor hours budgeted versus actual hours for sites. Work with Production Assistant (PA) in reporting large discrepancies to Sr. Field Supervisor.
· Promptly communicate all field staff performance issues to Sr. Field Supervisor.
· Ensure all field procedures are understood and executed.
· Ensure jobs are mobilized and set up properly so foremen have what they need to work efficiently and effectively.
· Ensure fleet policies are carried out, work with PA to ensure all equipment inventories are kept up and ensure all thefts are reported immediately.
· Ensure all yearly field staff performance review forms are completed and assigned yearly.
· Work with HR on the distribution of employee communications.
· Assist during hiring events for Green and Snow.
· Ensure all CWL procedures including safety, yard procedures, truck inspections, truck cleanliness, dress code, etc. are being followed as outlined by the Sr. Field Supervisor.
· Ensure job quality and appearance are being met to client and company standards
· Ensure all AFS and Crew Leaders are trained and utilizing company timekeeping software.
· Supervise jobs in a manner consistent with CWL's mission and goals.
Project Management
· Collaborate with Account Managers, foremen, contractors, and other relevant figures to devise plans for efficiently completing work.
· Review production reports to keep jobs on budget and communicate changes in production schedules on time.
· Keep self and others abreast of issues and challenges that may impact scheduling and/or profitability of jobs; resolves production-related issues as needed.
· Travels to and inspects work sites before and after production and warranty period to ensure crew productivity, safety, and work quality are performed following standards.
· Work with purchasing, yard, and shop staff to ensure materials and equipment are available when needed.
· Assist in the contract bidding process, working with internal partners to provide accurate and realistic bids.
· Perform project completion review with key foremen, account managers, and other relevant parties to discuss successes and failures of the job.
· Recognize opportunities for improvement, encourage feedback from foremen and crews, and develop solutions that align with the CWL approach.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to foster strong relationships with new and existing clients and to collaborate effectively with vendors and internal customers; Skill and ability to manage multiple priorities and responsibilities with an ability to effectively manage time and work for self and others.
Firm knowledge of landscape business operations, budgeting, proposal bidding, and accounting/billing processes; Advanced knowledge of landscape principles, horticulture practices, and extensive plant knowledge; Ability to keep to production schedules and budgets.
Flexibility to work varied hours/days to oversee job operations; Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing; Spanish proficiency desired. Demonstrated skill in using basic landscaping equipment, commercial-grade mowers, and operating a heavy dump truck with a tow-behind trailer. Ability to work a flexible schedule between 6 AM to 6 PM, weekends during peak times, and work varied hours during the snow season.
Education and/or Experience:
3+ years of previous landscape production and crew management experience is fully qualifying.
Experience with MS Office applications (Excel, Word,) and landscape management software Class “C” Driver’s License within 30 days of hire. A pesticide license is a plus, other licenses and /or certifications may be required per contract specifications.
