ROADWAY DESIGN ENGINEER
Provides roadway and drainage engineering design for a variety of transportation projects that may include Schematic and PS&E-level design for urban and rural transportation projects, freeway and interchange design, hydraulics and hydrology, storm sewer and culvert design, signing, pavement marking, and traffic control design.
Role accountabilities:
- As a Project Roadway Design Engineer, you will be responsible for the development and design of infrastructure projects for roadways, including intersections, collector streets, urban arterials, rural and urban expressways, interstates, and interstate interchanges.
- You may also be required to perform different roles on multi-disciplined projects including technical design, production lead, task leader, and assisting Project Manager and lead engineers.
- Project development experience will include working as an individual or through team efforts to assist in developing project scopes and budgets, interfacing with and maintenance of client needs for the Project Manager, mentoring and development of junior staff and design/drafters, development of project plans and maintaining project schedules, and ensuring project compliance with all IDCUS practices including quality and safety standards.
- Must have the ability to work on multiple assignments simultaneously.
- You should have strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills and be a self-motivated, team-oriented, and flexible individual who possesses the initiative and ability to tackle new projects, challenges, and concepts.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of Texas.
- 4+ years of progressive experience in Roadway Design.
- Expertise in MicroStation, GEOPAK, and OpenRoads software.
- Effective communication skills, both oral and written, and able to work well in a team environment.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Experience with OpenRoads modeling.
- Familiarity with GEOPAK Drainage, HY-8, HEC-RAS, StormCAD, OpenRoads Drainage (ORD), and other H&H software.
- Familiarity with TXDOT standards.
- Knowledge of and familiarity with transportation design manuals and regulations.
