About Us: Oakland Veterinary Referral Services (OVRS) is a premier multi-specialty veterinary referral center dedicated to providing advanced veterinary care to pets. Our team of board-certified specialists and experienced veterinary professionals work together to deliver the highest standard of care. We are a VECCS Level 1 emergency/critical care facility and are currently seeking a dedicated Critical Care Coordinator (Licensed Veterinary Technician) to join our Intensive Care Unit (ICU) team.
Job Summary: As a Critical Care Coordinator, you will play a crucial role in the management and care of critically ill patients in our ICU. Working closely with our board-certified criticalists and the ICU team, you will ensure the highest level of patient care and client service. This position involves coordinating patient treatments, managing medical records, and providing support to both clients and the veterinary team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist criticalist to oversee the daily operations of the ICU, ensuring efficient and effective patient care.
- Assist in the development and implementation of patient treatment plans in collaboration with criticalists and other specialists.
- Provide advanced nursing care, including anesthesia, advanced veterinary skill-set, and assisting with advanced diagnostic tests.
- Communicate with clients regarding patient status, treatment plans, and discharge instructions.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records for all ICU patients.
- Train and mentor veterinary technicians and assistants in critical care procedures and protocols.
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies and procedures, including those related to safety and patient care.
- Participate in case rounds, team meetings, and continuing education opportunities to stay current with advancements in veterinary critical care.
Qualifications:
- Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) in the state of Michigan.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a veterinary setting.
- Strong clinical skills, including venipuncture, catheter placement, and advanced patient monitoring.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to provide compassionate client service.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, high-stress environment.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Proficiency with electronic medical records and familiarity with veterinary software systems.
- Willingness to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays although no overnights are necessary in this role.
